Hi,

This is a bear of a problem with Transcend owners. You need to use their new Jet Flash format utility. So before doing so, copy everything off your drive to a folder in My Documents. This tool will then format your drive so you can start adding new, more organized data of your choice.

Then, try to remember to keep your data on the pen drive below the 4GB limit. This all has to do with binary math and base 10 math. The drive really doesn't hold 4GB of data, its way lower than that around 3.6GB. So, keep this in mind and keep this format tool around for future use.

I found this download link here, which is dynamic and not static but should work by clicking here.

Should that not work go to this referrer page here. You will have to start by select your product type and then go down through each selection list until you find your model and then the downloads for it will be listed. Click on the Jet Flash utility download eventually.

Personally, I think they could have done this much better and made this way simpler for consumers to find the formatting tool.

Let me know if you run into trouble and if you don't hear from me in 24 hours click on my user name and send me an Ask Me message, I'll get that message and I'll be glad to help you out.

Regards,
Worldvet

How can i remove write protect from my 4 GB transcend pen drive

Hi Virus or Trojans can run some process that keeps running in background. This not only harms the computer, but also prevents the pen drive from formatting as it shows that the drive is in use. Remove and re-insert the pen drive, don't double click on drive and cancel auto run operations if it starts automatically. Run a virus scan on pen drive, this will help fix the issue. Now format the pen drive.

Pen Drive write Protect

Hey, the transcend pen drives usually have a small switch on the side of it, ie to turn the write protect on and off, usually a small lock symbol on it, the problem with unreadable files names etc, could be a corrupt partition, i would suggest formatting the drive as long as you aint got any important information on it

good luck:-)
