You could test the speakers on another computer or another type of player.
As for testing the speaker itself you might want to open them up and look for rust.. Moisture could have gotten inside and ruined them.
That is the best that I can do.

to localised your problem, try to plug your speakers to other sound source like mp3 player ,stereo system. if still no sound coming from it,your problem is within the speaker system. perhaps the audio power amplifier ic inside, need to be replaced.
SOURCE: Old speakers won't work with new computer! :-(
Trying going into the speakers settings on your integrate sound in control panel and see if you can set it to 5.1 instead of the default 7.1.
Also do you have other speaker to try and plug into the card to make sure the card is installed and working?

go to creative's web site for the how to manual - http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=16067
SOURCE: Hello,
robert_cobb
Creative used to sell the replacement volume controls on there site but I guess they stopped selling them.
So what I would do is select your product at http://support.creative.com/
Then click on Contact Us
Next click on My problem is not listed
This will get you to email support. Send them an email stating that you need a replacement volume control and powersupply. They will ether refer you to Customer Service or to the RMA department to get a replacement.
Let me know if you have any more problems or questions
