Danby Silhouette leaking

My Danby Silhouette was working fine for about a year and a half. All of a sudden it started leaking at the back of the unit. Each time the unit is turned on, the water leaks from the back. It seems as though none of the water is going into the removable bucket, it is being drained out through the back. We contacted Danby but their only suggestion was to clean the filter (the filter was clean). I hope someone can help.

Same problem with Danby DDR505R Silhouette Dehumidifier.

    Here was my solution:

Unplug your device, clean the mess and remove the filter.

After you have cleaned out the filter, remove the water tank. Inside of
the area where the water tank was at the top you will see a small
opening (drain) which is where the water comes from. It is probably
    clogged...

Take a few Q-tips and clean the inside of it. There is still probably
water trapped inside so expect more water to come down as you do this.
Once you're satisfied that the small drain is cleared, you can put
everything back together and you should be good to go!

I had the same problem and that fixed it.

Nope... did that already and the opening wasn't clogged at all. It's clean as a whistle.

I had already checked this. Not clogged one bit, clean as a whistle. Leaks like crazy. Air filter was clean as well.

Check that the removable bucket did not alter a water guide near the cooling fins

My danby dehumidifier is suddenly leaking from the bottom .. I have a hose that runs down my drain in the basement .. It was all working great until a month ago .. now there is water leaking from...

Turn the unit OFF and unplug it. Disconnect the hose from the outlet on the unit. Using a plastic 18" Zip Tie, that will fit easily into the drain outlet, carefully insert the Zip Tie and insert it as far as you can. You will reach a bend in the tubing, so gingerly work it past that bend. Once the Zip Tie has reached as far as it will allow, start pulling it slowly back out, while rotating it. This will dislodge any clogs, so be ready for water to follow. It also would be wise, to clean out the tube or hole that drains into the bucket, as it may also have a clog in it.

Hope this helps you to solve the problem, Joanne.

Same Problems as Everyone Else

I have a Danby DDR 458EE dehumidifer that I purchased May 27, 2008.
Used it for the summer and stored it until May this year. At the end of July of this year it started not working. It freezes up. Called Danby, they told me it was out of warrenty and to take to a repair shop. Problem being it was leaking freon so have it recharged. Called the repair shop and they explained that it is a closed system and if it is leaking Freon, they can not recharge it until the leak is found and repaired. It's against the law to discharge freon in to the atmosphere. Stated cost to repair it would be greater then buying a new one. Called Danby back and explained what repair person said. Still waiting to see if they will give me a pro-rated refund.
