Hi,

If you’re using Windows, go to Start > (All) Programs >Accessories > Command Prompt.

You should see a command line window. Type in ipconfig and press return. In the output you see, the IP address under ‘Default Gateway’ should be your router address.

If this doesn’t work either, or it is showing the IP address you already tried, please come back to Fixya.

OK. I understand you decided to perform a reset.Loss of internet through router is normal after a reset.

Can you login to your router now? If you can, there should be a setup wizard which will help you set up your internet connection again. If you need a manual or quick install instructions you can get them from the Dlink site.

If you still can't login, please come back to Fixya - make a new posting if you have to.

How can I password my D-link router. Some is using my wireless API address

Enter the router configuration (192.168.1.1), user: admin, password: , and you must change on the Wifi configuration - you must set Security WPA2-PSK, under that you must set the password to connect on the wifi connection .
You must change password on the LAN / WAN from the Settings.
Apply all settings and restart router.

The computer will not be able to pick up the D-link network I have set up if I switch the modem and router off. Even when I leave it running it will sometimes not get picked up.

try changing the encryption type. This sounds like the computer your using does not support the encryption type being used by the router.

1. Go to the setup screen of your router. For a D-Link router, you typically fireup your browser, go to http://192.168.1.1, and type in your username and password, my default username and password is admin, admin.
2. Click on the Wireless link. It will open Wireless settings.
3. There are options to let you set your Encryption Preferences. You can provide an encryption key that will be used by the router and any PC that wants to use the network.
4. select none. (if your wifi now works then you have found your problem and you can try the alternate encryption type, either WPA or WEP)

I want to lock my wireless router, is DI 624 what i have to do?

You need to enable WEP security in router follow below procedure to secure your wireless network. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on wireless settings then wireless security then enable WEP security and enter WEP key it is your password to connect wifi. Then save settings and restart router . Then when anybody try to connect your wifi it ask for that password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

I cant get my nintedno ds to connect to my router

The problem may be your security settings. The Wii and PSP can access WiFi no matter what the security settings are if you have the key, but the DS can't access highly encrypted WEP security. Double check your security settings and then re-input your code.

Trying to reconnect my router but forgotten my password. Router has now locked-out. How do I re-set?

There is a small reset button on the back of the router. Hold it in for 10 seconds and release. Then you can setup the router from scratch.
Do you have your manual? If not, here is the link. http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/f5d8632-4_usermanual.pdf

Dl 624 wireless not authenticating

Try to MAC Cloning first. Open the router's admin page and look for MAC Address Clone setting. Enable it and save. You must power cycle the router and the modem after that.

I forgot my username and password and want to create a VPN or remote connection

If you've forgotten the username and password, there is really no viable solution other than resetting the router. All the software can be found on linksys' website, along with manuals for reconfiguring your router. Breakout your trusty paperclip and press the reset button on the back of the router. Reconfiguring should only take a few minutes. The default username will be "admin" and the default password is "password" (both without the quotes.)

Manual

No software is actually required to install the router. Any information needed will be in the manaul, provided above.

Hope this helps!

Using the DI-624 as a bridge

I don't think it can. An inexpensive wireless access point will work as a bridge. I use the TP Link brand with detachable antenna.

http://www.tplink.com/products/product_des.asp?id=116

Using the terms using the dlink router as bridge you get results of people who claim it can't be done because of firmware. The same question on the D-Link help site mentions DL to DL bridges, but not with the 624.
