aloha from hawaii! i know there is ink left in the ink cartridges enough to keep printing until the ink is gone, BUT the Epson Workforce 610 won't print when the ink cartridge reaches a certain level. i need to print and there is no place to get ink cartridges in my town. anyone know how to get around this? Aloha, Epson have a bad reputation for making people buy only their cartridges and get lots of money for them but there is a way around them by never doing firmware updates and if you did there is a software program that allows you to down grade the firmware so you can use 3rd party cartridges it is called "Wicreset" or another program called "SSC Service Utility " to check and adjust ink levels. google them for their web addresses. Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage. Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now If that does not work then follow the next step.
Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.

Black ink not printing

Take hot water until warm
Put about 1/2 inches of water in a cup
Put the print head portion (where the ink comes out) in for about a minute
Dry off the cartridge using a soft tissue.
Re-insert the cartridge into the printer.
Run the normal cleaning software routine a few times

Ink shows full but color won't print

Uncommon faults are with the electronic drivers in the printer system that drive and control the printer cartridges. This is providing the cartridges are proven to not be defective. Also, jammed nozzles will prevent printing.

Make sure your software is not set to print in monochrome (B&W) only .

With epsom ink jet printers the printhead is on the machine, not he cartridge as with many printers. This complicates things!
I suggest you get some cleaner cartridges put them in and run one single cleaning cycle each day until the cartridge is finished. Remember just One cleaning each day,,, this is to allow time for the cleaner to sit and "possibly" dissolve the blockage.
It is about your only chance of salvage.
An Ink jet printers worst enemy is sitting for long periods of time without printing on a regular basis, The ink dries in the print head nozzle!

When the print-heads are in their "resting" position, they are over the "waste-ink-absorber".
If that absorber is full, it will leak. So, take some paper towels, or sponges, and press them on top of that "waste-ink-absorber", to remove the ink.

Keeps saying paper jamed when I try to print

On the Epson website it is confirmed that the Epson WorkForce 610 will not recognize transparency media. It is just the way the printer works; if it can see through the media, it doesn't think it's there.
However.....you can tape a sheet of white paper to the non-printable side of the transparency, and it prints just fine. I put two strips of scotch tape on either side, top and bottom. Works great. It's kind of a hassle, but better than not being able to print transparencies at all!

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

This is the only advice I can give you.

How do you cange the cartridges

Your WorkForce 600 Series and its software will let you know when an ink cartridge is low or expended. If an ink cartridge is low, you see a message on theWorkForce 600 Series LCD screen. You can continue to print until a cartridge needs replacement. If an ink cartridge is expended, you see a message on the WorkForce 600 Series LCD screen. You must replace the cartridge to be able to print.

Note:
You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expended. Replace any expended cartridges before printing or copying. When an installed ink cartridge is more than six months old, you may need to replace it if your printouts do not look their best, even after cleaning and aligning the print head. Follow the instructions in these sections to check and replace your ink cartridges:
