My hard disk hide 90gb from 120gb. how can solve

Go to Start > Run (search in Win7) type diskmgmt.msc Enter. In Disk Management right click on the unallocated space and choose New Partition. Use the wizard to create a new partition. This will use the missing space to create a new drive.

In Windows 7 you now have the option of expanding and using the free space to make the original partition larger. There may be some limitations, and you will have to create a new partition anyway.

You also have the option of deleting everything and configuring the drive as you see fit, and of course this does not apply to the active drive with Windows on it. All data will be lost.

Hide Your HDD Partitions Hide your HDD partitions 1. Go to Start > run > type “diskpart”.
a dos window will appear with following like that
DISKPART> 2. Then type “list volume” without quote
It will look like this.
Volume### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info
————– —- —— — —– —- ——- —–

Volume 0 F CD-ROM
Volume 1 C NTFS Partition 7000MB Healthy
Volume 2 D soft NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy
Volume 3 E —- NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy

3. If u want to hide drive E then type “select volume 3′ without quote
then a message will appear in same winwods { Volume 3 is the selected volume}
4.now type ” remove letter E” without quote
now a message will come { Diskpart Removed the Drive letter }
sometime it requires the reboot the computer .
Diskpart will remove the letter .Windows XP is not having capabilty to identify the unkown volume.
Don’t afraid ur Data will ramin same .
to Come back the Drive repeat the process . but in 4th step which is shown in this post replace ” remove” to “assign
means type ” assign letter E” without quote
The above method won’t work for the drive containing Operating System and it can also be done using System Manager>Storage Manager

Good tricks to prevent the return of viruses after format

people are always complaining why viruses is back even after full format?!!

will that is what I'm going to clarify in the following lines:
usually it is a good idea to backup your data to a USB stick or DVD before
fully formatting your HDD with its all partitions, but the thing you may not aware of is that you may copied the viruses with your files , so don't even think about restoring you files unless your fresh system is ready , i mean
you must have all necessary updates and fixes installed in addition to antivirus with latest virus database definitions and make sure that no software installed from a home made or Unreliable cd .
then you can do restoration.

BUT what if my data is too large to be backed up.??

will i have a good trick for that .assuming that you have 2 partitions, you can put all your important data in a partition other than C drive (boot partition). then make sure that you Hide (not format) that partition using third party tools like (partition magic) or (Acronis) that you may find for free in a maintenance boot cd like Hiren's BootCD
by hiding that partition you guarantee that the newly installed OS on the newly formatted Primary Partition(C) cant see old staff that may be infected with a virus or more, this way you can protect the fresh copy of windows from being infected as soon as it boots up for the first time.
now as i said before you must have all necessary updates and fixes installed in addition to antivirus with latest virus database definitions .
Now time has come to un-hide that old partition to make it visible and assessable , by using the same steps you did to hide it.
when you restart the pc the new OS will detect that Partition and the antivirus will start cleaning viruses if any.

all the best

Won't fully boot. Get windows screen, then it stalls gray

reformated twice? have you already ran diagnostics on the hdd? check first the hdd thru diagnostics it might the hdd causing the problem. if no errors found in hdd make sure it was reformated as clean install. your hdd might have partition and just reinstalled OS on he same partition without deleting partitions. Try deleting partitions then create new partitions then reinstall OS.

Hdd does not setup xp

You can use Partition Magic. By this software, you can repartition your HDD & Hide the partition that have BAD sector. Make a new partition without bad sector space & active it as a primary partition. That's ok. Now you can install XP.

Passwork Assignement

Hi daoud,
Fine how are you?

There are number of ways to protect/hide your HDD/Partion/Folders. Here I am giving an example 'How to Hide Your Drive i.e. Partition'. Follow these following simple and easy to use steps:

  1. Go to Start -> Run -> "regedit"
  2. Find: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/Explorer
  3. Choose Edit -> New -> DWORD Value and give name NoDrives.
  4. Double click NoDrives and determine which drive that you want to vanish in Value Data.

Ex: If you wish to vanish drive E:, insert value 16 in Value Data.

The combination value in "Value Data" are as following:
    A: > 1
    B: > 2
    C: > 4
    D: > 8
    E: > 16
    F: > 32
    G: > 64
    H: > 128
    I: > 256
    J: > 512
    K: > 1024
and so on.........

There are also awailable software on the web for protecting your HDD. To have a look click here.

But be aware using HDD protection softwares, if you missed your password there is no chance to get your data back or to use any how your HDD.

Thanks

Recovery partition - repair

You have obviously deleted the partition that the laptop could recover from but usually if you are supplied a cd to recover windows, there is normally a drivers folder within the cd but not the aplications, such as anti virus although these are only for a trial period. for things like microsoft works if supplied, are normally on a seperate cd. Without knowledge of your partition software, you should be able to partition the HDD and then copy the files from one drive to another, but the restore may not work as the system files may not weave together when you come to restore. I would imagine it's only the drivers that's youre main concern, which you can install from your other laptop.
