Can't get snow thrower to start

I have replaced the spark plug and I cant get the snow thrower to start, it has tension on the cord and I pull and it makes the right sound it just wont fire. It has a 4.0hp briggs and stratton motor and has very low hours. The actual model number is 536-88140. And yes the oil is full and recently changed and of course it has gas and I've made sure I didn't flood it.

I have taken the Gas bowl off and sprayed starter fluid inside.I checked my gas line and there is gas. I spryed starter fluid in the firing chamber and it will turn over and start but I cannot get the gas to flow through the carb. At least I am getting it to try and start at the begining, I prime the carb and it trys to start.
I assume my problem is in the carb.
I have had this machine for 2 & 1/2 years and had two problems with it, I hope some one from Sears is reading this because I am pissed off.

if some has put fuel stableiser in gas before bought it if so you have to take the carb totally apart and clean it with engine carb cleaner and take the jets out and polish them put carb cleaner through all openings make the float isn\'t clog or jammed or full old junk, clean every thing out. make sure count your turns on jet screws to see where set at be careful try this see what happens if works you done very well your welcome . santa

Does it have spark ??? I would check that first, and IF it does maybe add a tablespoon of gas down the sparkplug hole then try it..

I just bought a Sears Craftsman snow blower, put gas and oil in it.Itried to pull the starter cord but it will not pull. I then tried the electric starter but it just grinded. Why won t it start?

Sounds like a serious flooding issue, perhaps due to having blower on its side, take out spark plug and place plastic bag over and try pulling over, be careful that it doesn't spark and ignite any fuel expelled out of cylinder.
if that is the case pull over several times blow off plug and try again, fuel might be trapped in muffler so be aware of spray, ignition.
If it doesn't pull over with the plug removed take it back as a valve might be sprung.

Carb adjustment and what is the correct spark plug

If the snow thrower worked last year I would suspect old fuel in the tank. Dump out the old fuel in the tank and put in fresh. Put a squirt of starting fluid in the carb and try to start it. If it fires the ignition is good. Do this a few times to pull the old fuel through the carb and fuel line. When the new fuel gets through the fuel system to the engine it will stay running. The spark plug in the engine will have number on it. Get one with the same number if you want to replace it.

Toro snowthrower 38180 won't start

You have probably fouled the spark plug (got a heap of black carbon on it) remove the spark plug wash in some petrol then use a wire brush vigorously brush between the contact points on the plug then reinstall. & lastly don't forget to push in the choke when you get it fired up next time.??

Snow thrower won't stay running

Replace the spark plug being sure to use the plug recommended in your owner manual, and the gap recommended. Then clean or replace the air filter. Finally use high test, new gasoline. Not gas that has been sitting around for months. good luck
