There are two ways.
Some models allow you to change the picture "format" through the main menu. You'll go to the menu, find the picture settings and one of them will be "mode" or "typo" or something like that which will have options like "Normal", "Full", "Cinema", "Auto" etc; some call it "zoom" since the picture is always made to fit into certain ratio, which is done by zooming it.

Some models, however, do not have that ability in the main menu. I guess poor chinese manufacturers were so poor they could never afford to add the few extra bytes of code it takes to make it possible.
Either that or the greedy capitalists (including the poor chinese manufacturers, which are a whole lot more capitalists than their western clients) did it on purpose so that one needs to buy original remote for something as simple.
Anyway, if it's not accessible through the main menu then there is a special button on the remote - again called "zoom" or "pic mode" - which does just what you need.

Finally, if you wantch HD channels that problem should not be present.

Hope this helps...if it does, please leave a review for us on Google!

How do i enlarge my picture on my t.v.

Not all programs were made for wide screen TV's. This not a defect nor will stretching the top or sides fill the screen. Look on your remote to see if there's a button marked view mode or something similar. Use this button to make the picture bigger but you may not like the results. If the program you're viewing was shot in 4:3 aspect ratio then there will always be a black bar at the top and bottom of the screen

Screen cuts off top of heads

Check the menu settings for the picture. You may be expanding the image to fill the sides, in the process, cutting the top and bottom.

On your remote control you should see a zoom or picture size button. Try changing this back to 16:9. I expect that your screen got zoomed either on purpose or by accident by someone. Some people zoom in the picture to eliminate the aspect ratio areas at the top and bottom and/or sides.

This should be your problem, just un-zoom the picture
