They all do that a bit. The sparks when starting up and stopping are normal. If it has been used alot brushes may be a good idea but before they need to be changed it will spark quite a bit.

It will not hurt to inspect the amount of brush material remaining.

SOURCE: drill works fine but wont engage hammer

On my DW988 the ring would go past 21 a couple of clicks to a symbol that looks like a yellow T and that would be hammer mode when I press down to drill.

SOURCE: Dewalt dw511 hammer drill won't hammer, only

The hammer inside the drill head are most likely damaged ans/or broken, it is likely the best thing to do is just replace the tool.

I have a DeWalt DC925 type 1 hammer drill, took it apart to repair switch and clean. Four pin bearings fell out,I don't see them on a parts diagram, where do they go ?

You will find them in the transmission, remove the metal cover and they will be located just under it - sounds like it is either the gear posts or the clutch cams on the nose side of the transmission DeWALT DC925 Type 1 Hammer Drill Parts

Can't engage drill or hammer settings on de walt dc 925 xrp

Try turning the ring to 2 or 3 and run the drill holding the chuck so the clutch slips then try turning it to drill setting. Also try to do it in different speed settings. If not it sounds like a fault in the gear module. It might just be a metal clip just under the clip in side. Undo the 4 screws holding the gearbox onto the housing and carefully remove it, you might see the fault or loads of dirt that needs cleaning. Go to http://www.2helpu.com/world/map.aspx for a drawing.

I have a dewalt dc925 combi drill the chuck keep slipping and also the setting ring is hard to adjust . What can i do top solve this?

Probably needs a new transmission. They cost about $34 plus shipping. Easy to fix. Just remove the four torx screws from the metal (gray in color) part of the drill. Then pull it apart. The transmission comes in a one piece cassette. Pull out the old transmission, insert the new one, put the front back on and tighten the screws.

It's one of the settings on the clutch ring. Or do you mean it won't turn there?
