Just gotta reformat it in your my computer menu. Just right click devise then set default to Fat 32 and select reformat and your good to go. However this will erase your data but you will be able to use the player again

SOURCE: player will not initial stays on initializing

Sounds like there is an issue with the firmware. Download the firmware install from here: http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2558

Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the install.
Be sure to back up any important media before performing this install.

If your computer does not recognize it, press and hold the play button while connecting the device for upwards of 30 seconds. If that does not work then it is likely the player is unrecoverable.

After trying to update FW of my Cowon D2/4GB I've got just empty screen. When exploring I see 6 folders containing: MUSIC - empty; PICTURES - empty; RECORD - 4 empty subfolers; SYSTEM - 5 files:...

Hello there, what has happened to your unit is simply a situation of corrupt filing or an incomplete firmware update installation. When this situations arise it is considerably difficult to fix as the unit mostly does not initialize to start up the installation process to enable you re-install the fresh firmware. This problem is generic with the D2 as a lot of people have encountered the same problem. Best situation is return it back to the local dealer as this seems to be the best way out.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

My phillips mp3 will freeze on 99% updated everytime i unplug it from the comp what do i do?? i have tried reseting it and then it gets frozen on the "vibe" screen...

Firstly, I'd suggest that you do a soft reset of your player. You will find the reset button next to the 'power on' button on the side of the player. Please hold the Reset button using a pen tip or other sharp object for 10 seconds. Now turn it on.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest that you format your player or repair it using Philips songbird or device manager. If your model number starts with SA1..... your player supports device manager. If it starts with SA2.... then it uses Philips Songbird. You can install them from the CD that came with your player or download it from Philips support site.
Contents may be removed by using this function. So make sure to back up your contents.

Format:
On your computer desktop, double-click "My computer". Double-click on the MP3 player's icon. Right-click on the Internal Storage icon and then select "Format".

Repair using Songbird:
Launch Songbird and then connect your player to your computer. Select "Repair" under the "Tools" menu. Follow the instructions given by the pop-up windows to perform the repair process.

Repair using Device manager:
Launch Device Manager and click the Tool menu and select "Repair", then follow the instructions to perform the repair process. Make sure all other applications such as Philips Plug-in, Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device.

Hope this works.
