Mio 168 not charging when using Car Charger

This is odd. I own a Mio168 PDA. When I connect the connector from the PC to the Mio, the charging light comes on and charging well. No problem there. But when I take it to the car, and used the car charger, it just wouldn't charge up and no charging light on the Mio168, despite I bought two chargers, all brand new, so it can't be the charger's that at fault. My theory is that the Mio168 uses a different pin on the connector for the power supply charging??

Any answers as to how to make the Mio charging up using a car charger, instead of using the PC.

(I use official Mio car chargers).

You have to have an ignition switch on, only then to connect a device. It is to protect device against an electric shock.

My Mio 168 just won't charge

The socket on the bottom of these is a common failure point. It wobbles about until the solder cracks then the device won't charge. If you're confident with a soldering iron you might be able to fix it yourself. Remove the SD card and fold the GPS antenna down. Remove the four case screws and carefully separate the back by gently prying it along the join. Watch out for the cable to the GPS antenna. Now you should be able to see the 22-pin socket. The pins are tiny. Very carefully re-solder them, and the ends of the connector where they attach to the PCB. The YouTube video seems to illustrate it pretty well.

Alternatively, there's this option which is altogether more drastic:

Problem with charging lead(s)

You will have to send it to a service support centre to get the connector repaired. You can buy it for approx £17 or send it to the centre for repair.it is a common fault with this machine.the connector is soldered on to the printed circuit so unless you are confident in repairing it i would pay the extra and give it to someone who knows what they are doing
