If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Sanyo Xacti (VPC C5E) digital movie camera NOT STARTING UP

This sounds like the same problem my daughter has with her camera (same model). Have sent it away to be repaired and have been told it needs a new MAIN PCB. The total cost is £232.65 !!! We are still looking around to see if we can get it done cheeper !

SOURCE: The battery for my sanyo digital camera won't charge.

I had this same problem with my Sanyo. I went on E Bay and purchased a new battery.. It was about 8 dollars and shipped from China. But it worked when I put the new battery in and charged it.

SANYO VPC-T700. I cant find my manual and I dont know how to recharge the camera battery. I plugged the USB cable into my computer and nothing happens and of course I need the camera today!

I don't think you can charge via Computer USB.. you need to use the Charger plug that comes
with the camera. Plug it up into the wall.. You should charge it overnight, but i know you don't
have that kinda time

The camera will not turn on unless plugged into the charger that is plugged into the wall. does this mean that the battery is dead and wont work again?

If this is a rechargeable battery that has been charged many times or has been allowed to completely discharge, it might be dead.

The screen on my Sanyo VPC-E6 is frozen

This is not specific to your camera, but try taking the batteries out, wait about a minute, then put them back in (like re-booting a computer). If this doesn't do it start looking for a new camera, since the cost of repairs will probably exceed the cost of a new camera, and the newer ones usually have much higher resolution than the one you are replacing and most likely for less money.

VPC-T700 Wont Turn on

hiak, I had the same problem with my camera. Try opening the battery cover and pressing down onthe battery while turning on the camera. If the camera turns on you have a poor conection between the battery and the camera.I folded a small piece of paper and put on top of the battery then closed the cover. Its worked like new since.
