Usually the colorwheel will prevent the set from powering up when all three lights blink. Diagnosis assistance is available for free from www.tvrepairworld.com

SOURCE: Samsung DLP will not turn on

If your having the "3 light" problem it could be an indication of a bad lamp however if there is a buzzing or a grinding sound it could be one of two moving parts. The color wheel or the cooling fan. I would go the cheaper route and replace the color wheel first. The thing is the lamp will not turn on if there is a problem with one of the other two parts. TRUST me ... I've replaced all three parts just to find out it was only the cooling fan. (at least I have another lamp handy when the new one goes out). The motor on the cooling fan is too small for such a big fan so I would definately try it first. It's a big problem with the DLP tvs. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

SOURCE: Samsung 46" DLP

HLP, HCN HL-S The Start-up Problem or/and
3 LEDs in the front blinking.

Unplug the set, pull out the lamp module (not all the way - leave it on the track) and push it back in.

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.

My Mitsubishi HD DLP TV brightness of my picture is dark settings are set properly and brightness is fully turned up not sure what it could be

I think the lamp is reaching the end of its life span. A new lamp will certainly brighten that back up, make sure you buy OEM, I get my clients lamps from Discount-Merchant. If you recently replaced the lamp with an OEM, then its probably a ballast issue, for this is the second most common problem in a DLP TV

Samsung DLP HL-S5087W 56" Confused...

Those lamps can be pretty touchy and susceptible to temperature changes and finger prints. Also some discount lamp dealers can accidently sell you the wrong lamp. Something simple and dull to try is to take that lamp out and put it back in, check that the connections are seated properly and the air pathway from the fans is clear.  If the fans were dirty and you put in a new bulb that worked for a while it may have burned out prematurely.

Three flashing lights

IF this is a DLP, the three flashing lights usually indicates something wrong with the lamp, ballast, or color wheel unit.

Recommendation:

Take the lamp out first to see if it's blown or worn out. If you haven't replaced it in 2+ years this is the first step to solving your problem. You're going to need the lamp anyway, so it's best to buy direct from the distributor: an Authorized PHILIPS distributor like Discount Merchant with a good record. Not someone who's merely a reseller.

  1. you'll get the best price
  2. you'll get the best support (people who know what Philips UHP lamps are and how to fix your TV)
  3. the best warranty for your money and not just a cold return policy.
So check the lamp first, and make sure that's not blown. If it is, there's your problem.

I have my tv KDS-R60XBR1 projection tv from sony. the problem is the tv is not turn on. led red flashing and turn off. no picture and sound. I replace the lamp, but it still doesn't work. Please give me...

WELL IF YOU JUST RECENTLY REPLACED THE LAMP AND THE TV STILL WONT TURN ON THE PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE COMING FROM THE BALLAST BOARD IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S NOT SENDING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF VOLTAGE TO THE LAMP SO IT COULD TURN THIS IS THE POWER SOURCE FOR THE LAMP IF THIS PART IS NOT OK THEN THE LAMP WILL NEVER TURN ON

Samsung DLP TV time, temp and lamp lights blinking... won't turn

Les,
I'm not a TV repair guy but my owners manual states that when all three LED's or lights on the front of the TV are flashing, that the lamp needs to be replaced. Might want to look into this. Good luck!

When i turn the tv on it goes to standby right away

If not under warranty, here's what you need to replace inside your TV. Power supply board BA71F0F01042.
d77e9f4.jpg
The board is hard to find right now. Only three places I know of to find it.
Ebay,
Discount-Merchant.com,
and Shopjimmy.com
Right now, only Discount-Merchant has one in stock. Here's the link:
Discount-Merchant.com - Projection LCD / DLP TV Lamps - Plasma ...

I know it would be cheaper to fix the TV, than replace it.
If you end up throwing the old board in the trash, I would like to keep it if possible. Here's my e-mail, [email protected]

Mine did that when the color wheel didn't spin up...just give it a whack where you installed the light & the wheel should spin up. I had to replace my color wheel as the bearing was shot & was buzzing all the time. The light won't come on if the wheel doesn't spin up first.
