SOURCE: water in softener dispenser

the conditioner works by siphoning out when the water from filling mixes with it, the excess water then drains away the same way, when you took the drawer out, you must have either not cleared all the powder or not put it back together properly, if it worked before it has to be something you have done, sorry, just keep trying different ways and double check to see if all bits have been cleaned properly if i have helped please rate me

SOURCE: My towels always smell sour...it doesn't matter

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the drain pipe you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a good plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully. Check your pump too.

On some models the filter is located ‘inside’ the big hose from the bottom of the tub. This takes more time to clean.

Next run your washer with 2 cups of bleach, hot water. After it starts agitating stop the washer & let it remain for 2 hours. Then continue the wash.

This may signify: ➔ Load is bunched or twisted around agitator. ➔ Excessive detergent usage. ➔ Basket cannot engage during drain step. ➔ Mechanical friction on drive mechanism, not allowing basket to engage.

Removing soap dispenser in cabrio washer

Which model Whirlpool Cabrio washer do you have? For the WTW8000DW, you need to pull the dispenser tray forward until you feel resistance. Then push down on the one tab (between the fabric softener compartment and the detergent compartment) near the back of the dispenser. Continue to pull the dispenser tray forward. (Hold the tab down at least to start pulling the tray further forward.)

The manual for the WTW8000DW is available on the product support page: https://www.whirlpool.com/laundry/washers/top-load/p.5.3-cu.ft-he-top-load-washer-with-adaptive-wash-technology,-intuitive-touch-controls.wtw8000dw.html . Scroll down or use the link to the Manuals & Guides section. The direct link to the Use & Care Guide is currently: https://www.whirlpool.com/content/dam/global/documents/201504/owners-manual-W10607424-RevB.pdf . See page 14 of the manual for the pictures to go with removing the dispenser for cleaning on this model.

I hope this helps. For the manuals for other Whirlpool washers, use the search feature at https://www.whirlpool.com/services/manuals.html .

How do I remove the fabric softener dispenser, Whirlpool, I wanna check replace agitator parts

The softener just pulls off, straight up. Then there is a bolt that holds the top agitator on. When you put it back together, be careful to align the tabs, they are very easy to miss and bend, then break.

The fabric softner chamber seems to be clogged because after a wash it is full of water.

The fabric softener chamber is likely full of crud and or mildew.
  1. Pull out the detergent / softener tray (press down on the tab in the back to get it all the way out). Take it and wash it as well as you can.
  2. Now, pull the washer out enough that you can get to the back of the machine.
  3. Unplug the washer!
  4. Remove the four screws holding the plastic tabs (at the top) on the rear of the machine.
  5. You should now be able to remove the top cover of the machine - slide it back and then up.
  6. There are four small hoses connected to the back of the detergent tray, and one large hose.
  7. Take a marker / tape / etc. and label these hoses 1,2,3,4 - write the corresponding number on the top of the detergent tray so you will know where to hook them back up!
  8. Using pliers, squeeze the tabs on the small clamps to loosen them enough to pull them back about an inch on the small hoses.
  9. Pull the hoses off, gently.
  10. Use a phillips head screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the large black hose. Pull it off.
  11. You may want to loosen the other end of this large black hose and remove the hose for cleaning. Mine was nasty.
  12. There is a black bundle of wires snapped into the sides of the detergent tray. Take this bundle out of the clips so it hangs loose.
  13. Remove the two screws from the front of the detergent tray. These are on either side of the opening and are usually hidden by the detergent drawer.
  14. Now, you should be able to slide the entire fabric softener tray back and out of the machine.
  15. The tray comes apart into two pieces - gently pry the tabs on the sides to separate them.
  16. Clean everything! If anything is too nasty / clogged to clean, buy a replacement part.
  17. Reverse steps to reassemble and good luck!

Front loader LG washer drawer for detergent is stuck won't open

Remove the top of the washer by removing the 2 retaining screws (phillips head) from the back of the unit & sliding the washer top back about 2" & pulling up. You will see a white detergent dispenser box with several hoses coming off the back in the left front of the unit (this box contains the detergent drawer). The lid to this box is held on by 8 pressure snap clips. You only need to release the 4 snap clips (3 large, 1 small at the rear) on the right side of the box (nearest the washer drum). Pull up on the right side of the lid while pulling out on the detergent drawer. It should come out normally. Do not reassemble until you read below, then reverse the steps to put the washer back together.

The problem will be the "softener" lid (blue). It will not be sitting down in the drawer assembly & will catch on the lid of the white detergent dispenser box. Simply remove the blue lid to avoid future jambs. It only serves to identify the fabric softener recepticle & it keeps fabric softener from splashing around when water enters the system. You may need to remove the entire detergent drawer periodically to clean (push down on the blue thumb indent inside the drawer to release it from the housing).

Hope this keeps you from drilling through the lid & ruining a $23 part, like I did.
