Coby MP-C848 MP3 Player

I have two Coby MP-C848 units. Certain mp3's I download will begin to play but not finish - audio is there but garbled (when used with new battery and headphones) - it will play properly with my computer but not when using headphones. The same mp3 file will play properly on another mp3 player of mine (Gateway 4-in-1 Digital Music Player) using the same battery and headphones. Both players are 256MB capacity. Most mp3's will play on the Coby - it's just certain ones. Try the following download on a Coby MP-C848 and hear what it does: http://podcastdownload.npr.org/anon.npr-podcasts/podcast/330/510051/6696793/WBUR_6696793.mp3

Need to find drivers for headphones

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2014

It's very old, and probably broken. About 6 years. The quality is awful. It's hollow and I can barely hear vocals or main parts of the song. Only really good quality speakers and headphones will work. Thanks.

Hello,

If your adding music to the device and its not playing, its because your audio files are not the correct format. This unit only plays MP3 audio or Uncopyrighted Windows Media Audio files. You can test this by connecting the MP3 player, copy one of the sampe audio files under 'My Music' location on your computer and paste it on your mp3 player. It will play the audio fine.

How to play: Hold in play button until red ligh is steady, then press Play again to start the audio.

Make sure you remove any audio file that is not the correct format.

to check format of song:

right click the song, go to properties, under properties it will say 'Type of File', make sure this says MP3, thats the safest way to go.

Downloads

1. Downloads must be on your computer.
2. Turn on Mp3 player, go to settings, make sure USB mode is set to MSC.
3. Connect MP3 player to the computer.
4. If using Windows operating system, click the Start button, go to 'My Computer'
5. There should be a drive labeled 'Removable Disk', drag your music files to this location.
6. Disconnect MP3 player from the computer
7. Play audio files

*Note - Audio files must be MP3 or Unprotected Windows Media Audio files (that is all this unit will play).

It wont do it

If your mp3 player came with a cd be sure you installed whatever was on it onto your computer it may have had drivers for your mp3 player to run properly. Read the instructions you got with to see if you can figure anything out. Make sure you have the latest update of windows media player. If this doesnt work check to make sure that the battery is charged or if you look in the manual that came with it see if you can find a support number.

Your batteries may be dead, the coil that it (the battery) attaches to sometimes gets bent out of the way, so try turning that back.

I had this problem, too. To fix it, I deleted all the files and folders, then loaded one small mp3 file, and that got it back to normal.
