I haven't used my turntable too much, but when I bought new vinyls I wanted to listen to them.. Everything was okay.. until...
Turntable started to spin very slowly, then stops, or doesn't start at all... It is not a faulty motor or belt... everything is okay... I am wondering if it's not electronics... There's a some sort of transistor that's heating up and i I think that it might be a resistor connected to it.. Am I thinkin' right?? There's a part number on that transistor C1383 (Q101) but I couldn't find anything about it... I have a technics SL BD-22 turntable, please help! :)
I think that the circuit board (PCB) is used also in BD11 (markings on the board (both BD11 & BD22).
My turntable was having a similar problem. It started right after I changed the belt. I "fixed" it by playing with the capstan drive wheel--the brass one around which the belt wraps. I pulled up and towards the center of the platten and that fixed it. It would appear that the capstan has a bit of play in it. The belt tension probably keeps this from getting out of place most of the time, but if it does get out of place, the belt won't pull it back into place by itself.
Based on the experiences, it sounds like it's something on the main board. Perhaps one or multiple resistors failing, not allowing the correct current to hit the motor.
Unfortunately, not an easy fix. I would suggest contacting a service center for assistance.

I'm having the same problem and in my case it's definitely not the motor. It's the control circuit. On the occasion when the motor spins ok there is 4V going to the motor. When the motor is spinning slowly there is only 2V going to the motor. I suspect the magnetic resistor which is part of the feedback loop for speed control.

I have the same problem. My Technics SL-BD22 Turntable was fine and I don't use it very often but when I started to use it recently, it all of a sudden started running very slow and then stopped. I took the belt off of the pulley and it would barly run. I could stop the motor with my finger. I took it off the circuit board and had a guy at work test it for resistance. It was 19.6 Ohms. Then, hooked it up to the circuit board again and all of a sudden, it wanted to start working. Then, a few weeks later, it started acting up again. Does anyone know if there is a way to get a new motor for this turntable? Everything else if fine with it except the motor. Please help if you can.
