5 DVD disc changer doesn't open

When I turn on the DAV-C450 and try to open any of the discs (1-5) there is a little noise, but the changer never opens. I'm also unable to find a DVD that was in disc 2 slot. I've taken the case apart and looked for the disc, but don't see a thing. I've turned it off and on with no difference.

Are you using discs with labels that you out on your self? I had a similar problem before and my label peeled off in the player causing it to get stuck., you might just have to take it apart, and get the label out.

I have a Sony Dav Fx888k DVD HOME THEATER System, It's a 5 disc changer. I am unable to insert the CD. It displays C 31 00.

The error code C 31 00 on Sony DVD Home Theater System usually indicates a mechanical issue with the disc changer mechanism. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
  1. Turn off the power to the DVD Home Theater System and unplug it from the wall outlet.
  2. Wait for a few minutes, then plug the system back in and turn it on.
  3. Press the "Eject" button on the remote or the unit to try to eject the disc tray.
  4. Gently try to move the disc tray by hand to see if it is stuck or obstructed.
  5. If the disc tray does not move, or if you hear any unusual noises, it may indicate a more serious mechanical issue that requires repair.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, it's recommended to contact Sony customer support or a qualified technician for further assistance.

Disc tray wont open

Get a paper clip and look at the face of the drive.. There is a small hole, insert the unfolded paper clip in the hole and the drive will release. Good luck

Sony DAV-C450 disc jammed. How can I remove them

your two options would be to remove the cover and disk tray and than remove the disk while nothing is in your way your other option would be to pry it open using a flathead screwdriver which could damage the tray motor and gears neither is suggested if the item is still under warranty or you lack general assembly skills

It can't play dvd from other zone, how can I set up my equipment to play any dvd?

Now this is for the Sony DAV-450. If that is not your unit may I get the right make and model #.

1) Go into the services menu by
A) - Turn your C450 on with no disc inside.

B) - (ON THE EQUIPMENT NOT ON REMOTE) Press and hold both the Display and Stop keys while turning the volume control to the right. When your TV screen fickle, release the buttons. You should be seeing the Service Menu now.

This should be fairly easy. I got to this step without any troubles.

2) Instead of buying their remote control I used my PALM with OmniRemote (http://www.pacificneotek.com/software/OmniRemote.zip) and Sony_DVD_hack.pdb (http://dev0_2000.tripod.com/).

3) I send numbers 1 to 5 with the PALM as suggested and tried it a number of ways such as sending 1,1 2,2 3,3 etc.
I did NOT see any "data reset" or anything else displayed on the screen as reported in the forums elsewhere. That's why I kept on trying for about an hour with various codes and just as I was about to give up, lo and behold, I tried playing a region 1 DVD and it WORKED. The morale of the story is that keep a bunch of DVDs (with various codes) handy and try it out.

While pressing the buttons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 I did not notice anything unusual except button 2 would put the display into some kind of toggle mode but probably it is irrelevent and safe to ignore.

Enjoy! If this works please rate 4 thumbs for the free answer.

DVDs won't play

Hi Pookie, This is an easy fix. All you need to get is a CD/DVD-Player Laser-Lens Cleaner for about $5.00. You can get these at Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, or any similar place. Use this, and let me know how it works for you. Best regards, nightdiver
