Install memory acer 5000

You might have a faulty keyboard or a key may be continuously pressed without you seeing it physically. When you get to that screen again, try running your hand across all the keys a few times and see what happens. If not, just go on ebay and find a cheap one and replace it.

Break it off..........

In order to take the Base Enclosure (Bottom Cover) off, you would have to break it off.

The Acer Aspire 5000 series of Notebook PC's, disassembles from the Top down. When you are done you are looking at an empty Base Enclosure,

You have to;
Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Remove the Harddrive Compartment Cover, Harddrive, Memory Compartment Cover, Ram Memory, Wireless Module, Wireless Antenna wires out of laptop body, Optical Disk Drive, (DVD drive), Display Assembly, (LCD Module), Keyboard Cover, Keyboard, Palm Rest Cover, Motherboard, and so on..........

Then you have the Base Enclosure. (Bottom Cover)

WEAR an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source.

Go to the paragraph that starts with Aspire 1200. (1200 in Blue)
Drop down to the 6th line (4920G), scroll across; and click on the blue -> 5000

Yes. Installing Windows 7 might be the problem.
Make sure that the driver you installed is compatible with Windows 7, or at least Windows Vista. (with compatibility mode)

The only thing you missed is if you have only 2 slots to put memory sticks it means that if you want to put 4 Gb of ram you need to buy 2 sticks of 2 Gb each, you have no other choice. you can't add memory but only change the existing ones.

GO ON TO ACER WEBSITE AND DOWNLOAD THE UPDATED DRIVER FOR W\LAN AND INSTALL,THIS COULD HELP

Yepp, it supports 4GB ram, i have a Ferrari myself:) and i have 4GB ram in it whit no problems at all.

Are you sure you bough the right memory-stick for your acer?
It requires two SoDimm DDR2 667mgz dual channel supported sticks. Make sure that u using those ones, otherway it wont work.

Hi,
sounds as if the laptops in hibernation or sleep mode.
Try refering to the user manual regarding the mentioned points.
also try alternating the memory from slot to slot, 1 faulty slot or ram module, will cause the computer not to boot.
Finally, if this is a model that has a ribbon-cable from power switch, to motherboard. ensure it,s inserted correctly/square et,c.
