me too !!what can i do??

Same problem except I have a 2nd Gen. This issue started 2 weeks after my 1 year warranty was up. Hmm..Apple isn't going to do anything except suggest getting it repaired, which is stupid, since I could just invest in a new one altogether, but still feel Apple is responsible for shotty craftsmanship. I didn't do anything to my ipod, have kept it covered and in excellent shape. However, I know it's business for Apple for all of us to shell more money out to them for an extended contract or to buy a new ipod. Mmmmhmm.

Hi guys dont worry about it. its not really a major problem because sometimes the ipod has really really tiny malfunctions like this and no, im not from the apple store so dont ask anyway all you have to is this: plug in your ipod to the computer using the usb cable. now it should say that it is syncing if not, sync your ipod. while it is syncing, press cancel sync on your ipod touch and it should cancel and take you back to the home screen. This shouldnt happen again but if it does, at least you have a way to return to your home menu cya :)

Updated my ipod software and now it wont play on my home theatre system

This is always tricky with 1st generation iPod touches. After a while they can't handle the new software anymore and some functions won't work anymore. Maybe try to downgrade the software. Otherwise you should probably get a new iPod.

I was charging it nd it was chrage nd out of no where it turn off nd never turn back on nd it doesnt chrage no more

Hold the power button and the home button down at the same time for 20 seconds. if it still doesn't power on, try to put it into DFU mode and plug it into iTunes to restore it:
1. Hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds.
2. Let go of the power button and continue holding the power button.

My Ipod Screen Went White And Now It Wont Turn On, How Do I Fix It?

Try to reset it. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPod touch until it is fully charged.

If this doesn't work, try restoring the iPod

    Complete a Regular Restore
  1. Back up your iPod Touch's data to your computer before the restore to prevent losing data. You'll need to reinstall it after the restore process.
  2. Connect to the Internet and install the latest version of iTunes from the Apple website.
  3. Make sure your iPod Touch is connected to your computer.
  4. Pick "iPod Touch" in the Source pane of the iTunes program.
  5. Click on the Summary tab.
  6. Choose "Check for Update."
  7. Select "Restore" and follow the instructions to finish restoring your iPod Touch. Complete an Advanced Restore
  8. If following the steps in the previous section did not work, follow these steps to perform an advanced restore. Turn off the power on the iPod Touch.
  9. Plug the iPod Touch into your computer.
  10. Power on the iPod Touch.
  11. Press the "Home" and "Sleep/Wake" buttons together for 5 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
  12. Release the "Sleep/Wake" button but continue holding down the "Home" button. The iPod Touch should reboot, and iTunes will notice the iPod Touch in recovery mode.
  13. Return to the above section and follow those steps to restore your iPod Touch.
WARNING
Restoring iPod Touch software will return the iPod to its factory condition, and the restoration process will erase all data.
