52'' GE Projection TV will not turn on

I have a 1999 GE 52" projection TV. I have had no problems until last week. I changed channels and the picture looked distorted and turned red. I shut the TV off and turned it right back on. As it came on I saw a flash of light thru the bottom black fabric covering the speakers. Then the TV went off and will not turn back on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I own a 52 inch rca projection tv and last week

Most likely the Horizontal output transistor has shorted. When it shorts it causes the power supply to chirp. This is a common problem with this series of TV. Have a shop check it out. It should not be real expensive.

Sony 52" rear projection tc

5 blinks means problem in the AKB (video) and 4 blinks means problem with the verticle deflection. Try this to get the screen to display any recent faults then get back to me and let me know what it said. Press the following buttons on the remote.
Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power. This brings up
a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred.
Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.
We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described
above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink
codes.

HD PICTURE

Use your input button on your television's remote control.... you should have plugged the wires into the COMP 1 area on the back of your TV.  You will also need to make sure your red and white audio cables are plugged in as well (Five total plugged wires) Press the input button until you see COMP1 at the bottom of the screen... there you will find your picture and sound.
