It could be the thermostat has burnt out or possibly the start capacitor
needs replacing

You are referring to the rear drum bearing that has worn away..
It means replacing the rear bearing and drum shaft.
It comes in a repair kit which you can obtain from Hotpoint.
It comes complete with fitting instructions.
Go the Hotpoint web site, and you should be able to order the parts on line.

most electric dryers have a wiring schematic on the back or inside on the back pannel of the unit it self . try too look for one there and it might help you out

You will find the heater and stats located behind the removable panel at rear of dryer, you will need a meter to test them for continuity. there are other possibilities for it not to heat, so do not assume it is a faulty heater.

turn the macine aroun you wiil see3screws on the top holding the lid on remove these and take the top off there are 3or4screwes on the top in front of machine remove these lay the macine back at45degres and on the bottom of machine you will find 4more screws remove these and the front will come off place new belt over the drum and with a small crow bar linked through the belt and under the drive apply a lot of down presure to get it on to drive this is realy hard and you mey think the belt is to small it is not make sure u align drum in to front door or machine this is very simple then re assemble and away you go approx time45to hours work
