SOURCE: Dell Latitude D600 won't go past the Dell startup screen

Tap the f7 or f8 key, when you turn it on, it should go into safe mode, Go into start programs, accesories, tools, and restore, select restore, select a date closest to today and let it go through the restore pocess, if it suceeds and starts up, rub a good virus program right away, it sounds like you picked up a virus or trojen, just be patient and it shoul be ok, if it won't go into safe mode, let me know, that will require more work. And before you do anything, unplug, remove the battery for a few minutes and replace, try it and if it still won't run, do the above, thanks ,GYM

The flickering may not be caused by a corrupt driver, it could be the impending failure of the fluorescent back light of the display or its high voltage supply.

Trying driver replacement though is the first thing to try.
If the original driver is corrupt, you can try the following;

- Right-click on My Computer
- Left-click on Properties
- Click on Hardware tab
- Click on Device Manager
- Locate and open Display Adaptors
- Locate the video listing for your
- Highlight and delete this
- Reboot the computer

If Windows does what it should (no guarantee on this!), it will 'find' a 'new device' and install the driver for it.

Dell latitude d600 can't click my start button

I would suspect , 1, you have to many startup programs, use CCLEANER at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This freeware program will remove the junk from your Dell and in the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, disable ALL unnessary startup programs. 2, Download MALWAREBYTES freeware at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ Run a FULL Scam , Delete ALL results , Reboot. If you are using Windows XP use these tips: http://www.wikihow.com/Speed-up-a-Windows-XP-Computer You could consider more Memory, your machine supports up to 2GB's.

Dell latitude D600 I was running without a battery when there was a brief power outage. The laptop shut down, and will not restart. It appears to start, but screen never comes on, and after about 30...

Try flexing the whole bottom assembly. that is with the laptop open put your knee in the middle and grab the unit with one hand on the corner closest to you and the other near the screen and put enough pressure to "flex " the mobo right after you push the start button if it doesn't start try it the other way... this has been working for my grandsons d600 for 6 months. i tried a new switch board because the guy that sold me the mobo said the plug for that is known to crack and that didn't fix it. good luck ps you will know it has worked when the 3 lock lights go out and the power light stays on.

HOW DO RESET A DELL LAPTOP BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS IF WINDOWS WILL NOT OPEN

You can restore your system by holding down the Ctrl key while tapping
the F11 key as soon as your start up your system.

IF your recovery partition is in tact (a hidden partition that has windows and all device drivers for THAT model of laptop), this will reinstall windows.

Also, this will reformat and delete all user files off your system, so if you feel brave you may want to boot with a Live LINUX cd to see if you can save any files to a flash drive or DVD.

How do i restore my dell latitude c600 to its factory settings

The Dell Latitude C600 is an older Dell laptop computer. This particular model came with Windows XP pre-installed on it. If you are experiencing problems with your computer, or you want a fresh start with your Dell, you can restore the laptop to factory settings. This process removes all of the data saved on your computer and resets all of the settings back to the way they were when you first purchased the computer.

Instructions:

Step 1
Turn off your computer if it is currently on.
Step 2
Turn on your computer. When the Dell splash screen appears, hold down "CTRL" and "F11" on your keyboard. Release both keys at the same time.
Step 3
Click "Restore" in the "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" window. Click "Confirm" when you are warned that all data will be lost.
Step 4
Allow the system to restore and wait for the message that says "The system recovery process was successful." This can take about 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 5
Click the "Finish" button and your Dell Latitude D600 is restored to factory settings.
