The light meter is not working on my Minolta Maxxum 7000. Someone told me that I need to replace the lithium battery but I can't find any place on my camera that would hold the lithium battery.

Your camera uses 4x AAA 1.5v alkaline manganese batteries (definitely NOT lithium, your camera doesn't respond well to rechargeables of any kind either). If you look at the side of the right hand grip you'll see a large screw. Use a coin to turn it counter clockwise a quarter turn and the battery compartment will then open.

It seems that you'll find a user manual to be of use. Click here for part one and here for part two; both are free downloads in .pdf format.

Cant find batteries I live in Georgia

Depending on the battery holder, you can use AA, AAA, lithium.
If you have lithium battery holder, buy AAA battery holder or AA battery holder from eBay.

Replaced the 4 AAA batteries still does not work

There may be a button battery on the bottom side of the camera. Look for a circle about 3/4 of an inch in diameter with a screwslot in the middle. This battery number is "usually" CR2032.

Minolta Maxxum 4 & 5 - battery problems

it may not be the camera's. Some retail stores do not rotate their stock....in other words you may be purchasing an old battery. Check the dates on the package. My suggestion to you is to buy your batteries at a camera shop.

Minolta Maxxum 5000

I had the same problem with a maxxum 7000. Traced it to a bit of corrosion in the battery pack. It let just enough power through to run the computer, but upon releasing the shutter, it shut off.

You might check that. corrosion can be cleaned with vinegar.

Lithium battery

Try letting the camera set for a while with the new batteries in. I had the same problem, nothing worked after i replaced the batteries. I let it set for a couple of days and everything started working.

Maxxum 7000 camera lithium battery

The lithium button cell is under the metal plate where the battery holder attaches. There are six screws holding the plate to the camera. I believe the cell is a CR-2025.

That being said, replacing the lithium battery will only restore the cameras ability to remember your settings and frame counter when the regular batteries are not on the camera. It will not restore functions of the camera.

If the camera is not functioning properly, you have a power problem with the main batteries, not the memory backup cell
