Hooking up a turn table

That is one sick puppy. Looks like 4 of your amps are shot with only one working.

My first thought would be that when you moved the receiver to connect another DVD, the problem quit since the speaker wires moved. The best way to test would be to re connect the original unit the same way as the new unit and test again. If it still cuts out, disconnect the speaker wires and re test. if it still cuts out, try the new player and test again. if it does not cut out, there may be a problem with the old units audio output. Generally if its a problem with the receiver it would not matter what source you are using, even the tuner on the receiver, if there was a short in the receiver it would cut out. That would depend on what type of outputs your record player has. If it only has RCA (white/black and red), simply choose one of the two RCA inputs. If it has optical or coaxial outputs, and you don't have another device you wish to use one of those, then those would be fine as well. Hope this helps!

Something doesn't add up. You mention two connections to the speakers - CA-9335 and a "simple jvc cd player". Is that true? If so, you might want to UNconnect the CD from the speakers and run it into the receiver where it belongs. An amp isn't designed to share the load with another live device; or even have electrical contact with anything BUT speakers.

Did you actually find documentation that supports this hook-up? Or just winging it?

Over 10 years old? Could be bad capacitors... if you have the expertise, you can try taking it apart and checking them with capacitance and ESR (equivalent series resistance) meters. Otherwise, you can try to see if any capacitors are exhibiting any "bowing" or leaking; if the top of the capacitor is bowed or puffed out - even slightly - or if there is a brown or white residue around the base of the capacitor, you can guarantee the capacitor is bad. Note that not all bad capacitors exhibit these physical attributes... but you can be sure a good capacitor won't.

If all of this sounds too complex, your only recourse will be to take it to a reputable electronics service shop.

HOOK IT UP FROM A DVD PLAYER OR BLU RAY,,, WITH EITHER COMPONENT OR A OPTICAL CABLE ,,MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF IT TURNED ON ON THE RECIER SETUP

The Aux function is not meant for that purpose.The turntables/Record Players being way too old,now a days the amplifiers do not come with PHONO function that was specially used for playing Records/For turntables. Check if u have a phono function in your amplifier and if not then buy another amplifier with Phono function coz you need a ground wire [that comes out from the turn table] also to be attached to the amplifier and then only you can get a proper sound.

Hi, Your receiver is really the same as my HTR 5240. Same back and front. basically. Go to Retrevo for manual. Shows all the hook ups. I have VCR , DVD, Tape Deck, hooked to mine but can't find the adapter so i can hook up my indoor fm antenna. All my components plug to back of receiver then there is one RCA wire running from receiver to Tv.

is the dvd layer on bit stream output or digital mode ? cheak dvd players setinsg run red white to sterio video in yello to tv for picture ok or use digital cables ect
