Power issue? my tv will not power on at all. it was on we left the room and when we came back the tv was off (red light was on) tried to power on, cut power tried again, to no avail. removed back panel and looked around, found the deflection board has a led dp23 not illuminating when powered up. when i plug the tv in you can hear the "click" red power light comes on but no picture or sound. any ideas?

the error light sequence that you are seeing is indicating a "backlight error". Most likely you have a bad inverter board -the board that powers up the back-lights behind the display panel. They might be available via ebay if you are a DIYer, or you need to call for sony service.

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing as the red light blinks four times and there is no power on the TV. Please follow the below troubleshooting steps and check the operation:

1. Please make sure that the connections are secure.
2. Let's try connecting the TV to a different wall outlet.
3. Try resetting the TV. To perform the power resetting, unplug the TV from wall outlet for more than 2 minutes and then reconnect it.

If the issue persists, we can confirm that the issue is with the internal malfunction. I understand that the standby light is blinking 4 times in red. It indicates that the vertical deflection stopped. The possible cause of the issue is the failure of IC8001 in G Board. Also check whether the fan is working. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

try unplugging the tv for a few minutes and see if that does it. if not sometimes there is a reset button on the back. there could be dust inside the back cover that is also shorting out...last resort though. Good luck1

Probably the inverter board is faulty. Thats the board that drives the fluorescent back light tubes. Not an easy fix

Hello Debbie ok the problem that your tv set is having is coming from the convergence board which is faulty and has to be replaced, you can find one at partstore.com or by contacting the manufactuer of the tv set they should have one in stock, change out the board and you should be seeing tv in no time thank you hope this helps.
