Hello, Have you tried formatting the memory card with the camera?
If a card is formatted with another camera or if it is new you should format it with the DX6490.Hope this helps.

Try uninstalling the program and then install the earlier version via the CD that came with the camera. If your computer has a built in SD reader, you could use the drag and drop method of transferring your photos as I find that is the easiest and hassle-free way.

SOURCE: dropped my kodak dx 6490. Lights flash and lens won't retract.

Drop it agin, in the trash can. It is not worth getting repaired, you would be better off getting a new camera...

Cant read any sd card

If you have an old Kodak camera, (produced before 20070 where you used to have a memory card with less then 1 Gbyte, it could be you now try to use a SDHC card and your camera can't handle that.
The first 2 and 4 Gbyte SD cards were also SD, but now no firm is producing any SD memory card above 1 Gbyte. Even the 2 Gb now are only SDHC.

We insert a memory chip into our Kodak EasyShare C190 camera. The read-out informs us that the memory card requires formatting. We click on "OK." The camera goes into a "formatting" mode, then informs us...

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB) and KODAK SDHC Cards (up to 8 GB).
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.
