Under the top cover, on the right hand side where the bobbin winder is, there is a small switch which is activated when the bobbin is being wound. You will need to remove the cover and reposition the switch (it's located towards the front of the machine) to make it work properly.

Also it is quite possible that the small circuit board (P-print) just below the bobbinwinder that the motor plugs into has gone bad.

SOURCE: Singer 6267 self winding bobbin winds around shaft under

I just figured out why my bobbine was winding on shaft instead of on the bobbin. first of all make sure the bobbin is setting up high enough, top of bobbin needs to be a fraction higher then the bobbin shuttle, next check to make sure there are no burrs on the bobbin, then make sure that the thear is catching in the groove (**** in top) of the bobbin. In order to get mine to wind i had to lett the tread go down and then slip the thread in the groove. also remember to leave the pressure foot up do not put it down. let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: Brother SE-270D sewing machine bobbin won't wind

the rubber ring on the bobbin winder has probably gone bad which would mean replacing it but you can buy a portable bobbin winder called a sidewinder for around 20.00

My Memorycraft 10000 is having difficulty spinning bobbins. When I load it up to spin, then start the process, the needle goes up and down, and the machine beeps and stops.

Hm, difficult to say. Perhaps the needle stop function for bobbin winding is not functioning properly. Perhaps taking it for service would be a good idea.

The other thing you can do is look for a stand-alone bobbin winder. They cost around $30-35 at the fabric stores (ie JoAnn's) or can be found online. Just verify first that it will take the bobbins for your machine. I have one and it's great because it saves wear n tear on my machine, plus I don't have to unthread my machine to wind the bobbin.

I have trouble winding the bobbin. For some reason it starts winding it below the bobbin.

Verify that you are threading it properly for bobbin winding. Perhaps the bobbin winder height needs to be adjusted. If you continue to have problems (which I frequently have with some of my machines), I simply use a pencil or a skewer to raise the thread as it is winding on the bobbin.

My elna sewing machine bobbin won't spin on top to wind thread around. The fly wheel spins though...I've been putting thread on the bobbins by hand.

If the fly wheel is going around then the clutch isn't disengaged to wind the bobbin, you need to pull out the flywheel on your model to disengage the clutch for bobbin winding.

Take thread from thread spool across to bobbin winder thread guide, then back to bobbin and thread the tail through the hole on top of the bobbin. Place bobbin onto spindle on top of machine and then push it against the stop to engage the bobbin winding motor. HOld the thread tail up and start winding slowly until the bobbin core has been covered including the starting point. Stop and trim off the thread tail with scissors. COntinue winding bobbin and give the thread a nudge if needed to wind evening top middle and bottom of the bobbin. A good smooth wind is important. Also don't wind at full speed and keep an eye on the thread reel that the thread is coming off, you don't want it bouncing around as this will **** the thread and stretch then relax it affecting your bobbin wind.

Obviously if you know this and the bobbin winding mechanisim is just not working, then it will need a service/replacement by an Elna repair person.

I am having problems winding the bobbin as it will not stop when full and it is very uneven. I have just had it serviced. Ann

Double check you are threading correctly for bobbin winding. It should wind neatly till it can't turn, and then you stop winding; at least this is how it works on the 8000. Perhaps there is some thread blocking the thread guide for the bobbin winding

Singer 7444 trouble winding bobbin

It sounds like you don't have any tension on the thread when winding the bobbin. Make sure that you are running the thread through the tension disc on the top of the machine before going to the bobbin winder.
