SOURCE: Dishwasher not heating Zanussi

Hi,

I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

I have Zanussi DX6453 dishwasher. Suddenly it is not drying our dishes. All programs working. Do you think is problem with Element or Thermostat. It is heating water.

sugget the water temperature, it relies on the temperature of the water to heat to items up so that when the wash cycle has finished the heat will dry them. Hope this is useful. Regards Mike

Cycle starts but water doesn't fill past heating elements.

I think that the problem is the water inlet valve if the machine is not filling at all.

If the machine is not filling to the correct level, it may be the float switch.

Dishwasher stuck on wash cycle and water does not heat up

The element that heats your water may be bad or the control panel(board) could be bad as well. If your machine is older than say 10 years old, it probably is the board. If you can, check the element by feeling to see if it is rusted through or has a rough feel to it in any particular area. The signal telling it to go into the rinse phase is an indication the the board is bad. Is it still under warranty?

Smell of burning

The Element is shorting out, tripping the rcd. replace the element, thermostat, and any cut outs that are in the element cricuit. The element should not be glowing which means the stat is shot and the safety cutout for the element is shot also, while you`re at it check out the circuit board for dry joints, discoloured resisters, bulging capacitors etc.

This is VERY dangerous situation, as the machine has the potential to set your house alight and burn it down!. If you continue to use it in it`s current condition you may well damage other componants - rendering the machine B.E.R - Beyond Economical Repair. I will will advise You to never to leave this machine unattended, do not go out after turning it on and have a nice afternoon in the park etc, you may well come home to a pile of ashes!

Zanussi FLE1416W Front Loader

Most possible reasons that the door switch or timer unit is defective. The dishwasher should heat the water to about 55 C as the heating cycle starts. In these cycle, the dishwasher pauses after has filled with water and wait for the water to reach the temperature. If the water isn't being heated (because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. if you think that a user manual may help you more, it can be downloaded ($8.95) at url: http://www.download-manual.com/shop/Zanussi-FLE1416W-User-Manual-pr-8261.html

Another possible reason is that the timer unit is defective. If you have observed anything different post a comment.

Water not hot

Dishwashers are suppose to be hooked up to hot water. If you had hotter water it would clean just fine. 120 deg or more!
