When I turn on my camera, the date is always reset

When I turn on my camera, I always have the screen to set the date and time. It always shows "2010-01-01 00:00". I fix it to the present date and time. If I turn it off for more than 2 minutes, the date resets. What can I do to fix this?

If I need to replace the back battery, I have to open the camera. Where is the back battery?

  • Anonymous Jan 22, 2012

Oh, it actually displays "0000-00-00 00:00"

Never mind, I found where the battery for the date is. I'll change it this afternoon.

Changed the battery on the side and everything is back to normal.

My camera shows that the date and time are set up but date does not print on picture when developed. it's a new camera and I just developed my first set of prints and there is no date on any of them. ...

On digital cameras, the data is stored with the filename. Check the back of your prints to see if the dates were not printed there. Most companies do put at least the date information on the back of the prints as well as any other metadata stored with the file produced by the digital camera. Unlike film cameras, which could only record the date by actually putting it on the picture, digital pictures contain metadata that can include things such as people tags, location tags (geotagging), etc. depending upon the capabilities of your camera. The date and time is always stored along with the filename on all digital cameras. If the company that printed your pictures did not include the date on the back of the picture, ask them if they can do it or find another source to print your pictures that can.

If this did not address your issue, please reply with any amplifying information so that I may more accurately address your issue.

I hope this helped!

Date/time screen always shows up upon startup. Does not remember date/time entered.

Your camera needs a small CMOS battery replacement which saves date, time and maintains these settings even when your camera is off. Look on to the sides of the camera, there will be a small rubber flap which has this battery. You need to replace this small coin-like battery. This battery is not the same as you always use/charge. If you can't locate the small battery, you will find more information in the camera Manual in troubleshooting or camera diagram.

Time/Date stamp doesn't show up...

this camcorder has a built in rechargeable battery for the memory of the date and time, if you do not use it for more than three months, it will discharge all the way; to recharge, you need to plug camera with ac power for 24 hours and the camera turned off. this should charge the internal battery complete.
