I have a Dimage x50 and love the camera. I downloaded pics off of it yesterday and so the card is empty. I went to take pictures this morning and it went all by itself. It just kept taking pictures about every second. I turned it off and on again and even took the battery out and put that back. It didn't help. Is there something I can do to fix the problem? Thank you so much for your help.

Well, I also bought the DiMAGE Z2, and my problem was similar: It worked for some time, but then it started freezing sometimes, not responding to any button I pressed. One time, it froze, shut off, and I wasn't able to power it up again. In short, the camera was still under its warranty, so I gave it to their lab and they fixed the problem.

Hi,
If the LCD was physically cracked or broken, then yes you should be able to swap it for an undamaged one.
The cheapest option for you is to advertise or look on Ebay for an identical model - also with faults, but with an undamaged display. (maybe dropped - sold as not working)
See HERE - this is just like yours - but also has the cracked LCD. You need to search for one with a good display.
Take this "donor" apart first to see how it's assembled, then just swap the parts.
This method of repair is common for consumer electronics.
Thanks for using Fixya!. If this has provided a solution, plrease rate as such. Thanks.

Buy the AC adapter plug the camera in without any battery, if it works then its the battery,if not its the camera.

remove 6 phillipscews open camera. There is a little drivemotor for the lens, next to it is a shaft activating the limit switch for lens opening and closing.Carefully spray plastic safe electronic cleaner into the opening. Now apply 3 volt to the motor reversing polarity a few times to activate the limits. Now use canned air to blow out any residue of the cleaner. This worked for me,camera working again.
