Shouldn't have any problems on the A10 series working with a 160GB drive, so long as it's an ATA/IDE type with a 44-pin connector. If it's not recognizing the drive, could it be that the pins were not precisely lined-up with the IDE connector? I'd remove the drive, make sure the pins are still all straight, reinsert it into the HDD compartment and see if it makes a difference.
first of all, you need to another 512Mb of memoires. it will run better. second, go to BIOS and search for boot order, chaneg the the boot order to Hard driver first.
I am ArmyMason and I believe the issue is the hard drive is too large for the system you have. That board is old and back in the day they didnt support large hard drives. You could try using a boot disk and partition the hard drive into 20 GB drives and see if that works. http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=332&maincat_no=1 Link to specs.
dude your motherboard does not support harddrives larger than 160GB buy an external one but if you want to use that go ahead and use it but connected in slave if your using another harddrive as master where windows is installed or in master if you want just that hraddrive
You could try a BIOS update to increase the size of the Drive the BIOS is able to see.
The second last one indicates that drive sizes are supported over 65GB. It may still not be able to see the 160GB HDD, but this is your only option with this Board. You could always upgrade the Motherboard to support larger drives.
This is happing becuase of your motherboards BIOS ! Really, this happened to me too. You see, our motherboards which are very old cant support above 80 and so on. This is beacuse of the BIOS. You will need to update your BIOS inorder to give new features.
Try go to the Asus home page and download the latest driver for your motherboard. Then install it in your motherboard's BIOS. There is intructions for this in the Asus's home page.
