I HAVE SONY DCR-TRV22E, AND HAVE WINDOWS 7 ON MY LAPTOP (HP G72). WINDOWS DOES NOT RECOGNISE WHEN I TRY TO CONNECT VIA USB. CAN ANYONE HELP ?
I HAVE READ SOME POSTS SUGGESTING USING A FIREWIRE CABLE - NOT SURE MY LAPTOP HAS THIS CONNECTION - COULD ANYONE EXPLAIN..

Windows XP & Vista should automatically recognize the camera (hardware) when you plug in the USB cable. You don't need the Sony software.

is it able to record audio? are you able to see the indicators on the lcd screen? are you able to playback previous tapes with recording...if you say yes to all of the questions, there is no doubt that you dont have an issue with the lcd screen. the issue that your having is with the ccd imaging sensor. sony has a recall program for this specific model yrs back, unfortunately its already been discontinued and if you send it to them,it will be treated as an out-of-warranty repair.
