"Re-attach the power source" but tape is stuck, door open

I had the same problem. First, depress the reset button, located on the camera body (where the LCD screen closes over it). It is hard to see at first. It is important that the camera be set to the OFF position. When the camera is whirring after the reset, then hit the EJECT button so the tape comes out. Take the tape out and insert it back. That's it. My camcorder worked fine and let me record or plaback once I followed those steps.

Sony Handycam Digital 8: won't accept tape

I was having the exact same problem with my sony handycam. I actually came across this website looking for the answer and noticed many people having the same problem but there was no solution to it.

I just happened to go to the sony website and decided to watch the tutorial on setting the camera back to the factory settings. It actually fixed the problem! I don't know if this will work for everyone or even how long it will work, but I figured it was worth a try. Good luck!

Why do I get the error code C:32:11 or C:31:42?

Does it try to eject the tape? Try a gentle help on that. The tape may have gotten snarled in the camera.

Handy cam hi8 dcr

Try removing the battery and charging it. Then put the battery back on the camera. This will reset the cassette system. The cassette should open or close depending upon what status it is in. Once you get the camera to eject fully, clean your heads with a dry head cleaner cassette for Hi8 video. If your camera is still eating tape, could be a broken pin or damaged heads.

Reinsert cassette message

Believe it or not, after having the same problem "re-insert cassette" and "reattach power source", and after talking to Sony and them telling me it would be $111.00 to repair, I hit mine with the palm of my hand twice on each side and twice on the back by the battery and it actually worked--haha Go Figure!!
