Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator Logo
Anonymous Posted on Oct 13, 2011

I have a black side by side Whirlpool Gold Conquest Refrigerator. Yesterday morning it was fine, yesterday late afternoon I opened it and the light is flickering and the temperature display is not working and it is making an obnoxious noise when the door is open. If you touch the door close button it goes off. The freezer side is still lit and no noise when that door is open.

I need to confirm your model number. Is it as listed GD2SHAXLQ Reason is there where many different designs. You are saying that the temperature logic at dispenser control has gone out of control and flickering? The part number for the parts to fix and replace that are Click Here=> 2252080B Front cover assembly (black) There is no photo but here is a link to that parts photo and location 23 is ClickHere=> 2252080B Front cover assembly (black)
I think we need to check that part and the wiring going to that diaplay because it appears there is a short circuit. I have the service manual and can assist you if you would like to do this yourself, just let me know, Thank You, Sea Breeze

This could also be caused by a Defrost Control Board part number W10353224 If this board goes bad it will cause all types of strange things to happen. One question, is the refrigerator still cooling? Thank You Sea Breeze

My whirlpool side by side is getting warmer. Freezer was up to 45 F yesterday, today 55 F, Refrigerator getting warmer too. Fan on freezer and refrigerator vents blowing, but isn't that cool. What's...

check and clean the condenser coil under the ref , remove the back to the ref if the compressor is real hot you need to put a fan behind the ref for a couple of hours until the compressor cools down then plug it back in.

Too warm

First of all check to see if the compressor is running. If it's not running and you have no leakage of refrigerant. it is probably the start relay at fault, or the thermostat control is faulty. Check with a multimeter on ohms and check between common & start see what ohms it reads then check between common and run. see what that reads. then check between start and run, this should read what the other two read added together. if you have no readings then the compressor may be burnt out.

Started smoking and fan is still running but not cooling. neither

You have a bad compressor that is the only thing that will make something smoke and not let anything stay cool

Refrigerator suction/vacuum noise, rear section when freezer door is closed

there is no suction system. flush your defrost drain tube with boiling water and a turkey baster. should get some pretty nasty sludge out and sound will go away.
