I have an IPOD shuffle, 2nd generation, it will not work. It hasn't been used in about a year. I lost the USB cord to charge the shuffle. Just recently purchased a new USB cord from Apple store, but now it will not charge at all. I've left it on computer charge over night and even used the Iphone plug in adapter to try and charge through the wall plug in, and nothing is working. Any advice as to how to get this shuffle, that has hardly ever been used, to work again? Thanks.

first thing its getting charge through pc'c usb> it will get charged through teh dongle>so connect the dongle to teh pc make sure pc is up and rounning and connect the i-pod and that will charged initially u can see the light orange blinking which means its charging and u can either turn on it or off it while charging thx rate me solved if its helps

I plug it in to my computer, and I-Tunes does't finds it, I was unable to load music
on it and I get the green light saying it is charged. But when I take
it off the computer, I get lights for two second and it will not turn on or play
music at all. Any suggestions?

Hold in the play button for 10 seconds to reset. If that fails:
iPod shuffle Software Update and Restore
Apple periodically updates iPod shuffle software to improve performance or add
features. It is recommended that you update your iPod shuffle to use the latest
software.
You can choose either to update or to restore the iPod shuffle software.
• If you choose to update, the software is updated, but your settings and songs are not
affected.
• If you choose to restore, all songs and data are erased from your iPod shuffle. All
iPod shuffle settings are restored to their original state.
To update or restore iPod shuffle with the latest software:
1 Go to www.apple.com/support/ipod and download the latest iPod Update. The update
has the latest software for all models of iPod.
2 Double-click the software install file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the
iPod shuffle Update.
3 Connect iPod shuffle to your computer and open iTunes. The iPod Updater application
opens.
If you’re using a Windows PC and the iPod Updater application doesn’t open
automatically, you can find the updater by choosing Start > All Programs > iPod.
4 Follow the onscreen instructions to update or restore iPod shuffle software.
If you use the iPod Updater application and it doesn’t see that iPod shuffle is
connected to your computer, turn iPod shuffle off and turn it on again.

you are still under warranty...take it to the sony apple store...they will fix it /replace it or tell you there is cost if it not the battery (note do not tell them you charged overnight, and for the future do chage any gadgets more than 3-4 hrs) when you do charge over night you are actually shorten the battery life span or overcharge....so as soon as you come home from school,work,whatever cell/ipod or any other device needs to be charge...charge it now and unplug before you go to bed....

The iPod 2nd Gen changed how it charges and all those devices that once charged your older iPod, will no longer charge this one unless you get the adapter which is at the apple store and I have seen it at walmart for about $30. that device converts the power for you so it will charge. my adapter works perfectly.
