Water from toilet or sewer line bubbles into tub through drain.

Blocked vent line. Sewer line has a vent line so all drains easily. Without the vent it's like holding your finger on a straw. The vent is the pipe up thru the roof. Maybe blocked by animal'? Nest'? Something.

The smell is sewer gas coming back in the house from the sewer or septic tank ether from a dried out water trap in a floor or fixture drain, or from the roof vent, or a hole or separation in pipe or fitting. Like wax ring under toilet. First pore water down every drain to fill any trap that might have gone dry, then flush toilet or run washer or drain bath tub.This will displace gas in pipe and will cause the smell to increases if there is no smell then the problem is fixed if not check roof vent it may need a charcoal filter on top, There is no water trap on air vent on roof and is an open hole to the sewer or septic, The heating system in the winter or AC in summer will draw the gas inside from the vent.If it is the vent you should be able to smell it from outside. If all tests fails You will need to have a smoke test done. A smoker is set up outside and the line is filled with smoke and will show where gas is coming from. Also it might be a good ideal to check all gas fittings in case it is a gas leak.

Sounds like you have an intermittently blocked vent pipe (the one that goes out through your roof). If there is gas pressure in the downstream sewer line and it can't get up through the vent, it could bubble up through your toilet or sinks. I would get up on the roof with a few jugs of powerful drain cleaner and dump them into your vents. You might also run a few dozen gallons of water down those vents after the drain cleaner has had time to work.

The bubbling sounds like it's trying to get the air it needs to drain. Kind of like holding your finger over thr the top of a drinking straw and then lifting it out of the water. The water won't drain out until you lift your finger off the straw, allowing air to come in so the water can drain out. If the vent is clogged it could cause this. Squirrels dropped walnuts down mine and clogged it. The vent is the pipe that goes up through the roof, nearest to the toilet and shower. If the shower drain vent line is clogged it is possible that it could be sucking the air it needs through the toilet, sometimes actualling pulling the water out of the toilet. This is not very common but it can happen. If you can get on the roof and get a garden hose into the vent line(s), you can tell if it is clogged because water won't drain, it will come back out. You should be able to turn the water on full blast and it will drain normally if the vent is clear. It's possible that there is a connection between the toys and your problem, and the way you access that drain line is usually thru the wall on the opposite side of the shower controls/drain. I would start by running water down the vent lines on the roof. Good luck.

Two things jump out at me from your question.
For the water table to have any effect, you would have to have a septic tank with field lines.
Even so, air will not bubble back up into the toilet unless you have pluggage in the vent stack for the toilet.
I would suggest that a first move to correct the problem would be to locate the vent stack on the roof that is the vent line for the toilet and pass a plumber's snake down the line to clear it of debris and allow it to operate properly. It is possible that sewer gasses could infiltrate into the house if the vent line is plugged.

If water is backing up into the tub then you have clog downstream from that bathroom group. If water backs up when you ran water in the rest of the house then you have a clogged sewer service. With either case the house drain and / or sewer drain will need to be snaked. Most of the time it will be the sewer drain.

Your problem is not with the washing machine. I suspect that the drain line for your toilet is obstructed further down the line than your snake can reach. If you have a clean out riser to your sewer system, flush the toilet while someone else is watching the flow past the clean out. I would say that renting a sewer line snake at a tool rental like Home Depot would solve your problem. Good luck

there is no air release. the vent must be clogged somewhere. you can take a hose up there and see if it drains all the way or floods over. since the tub drain has a trap and the toilet itself is a trap, there has to bee a good amount of air pressure coming up without a release. i would say an obstruction. possibly at the junction of the main and the vent.

You will have to have your drain snaked out.

there is a blockage at your main sewer drain

ave yu noticed a back flow up inot the tub?

if so the problem is out toward the main line from the house

find the cleanout outside or under the house near the foundation and use a snake to clean it out


You can use a high pressure whater hosue to try to fix this but i am afraid it is roots into your drain line
