Hello,
This doesn't sound like a Driver issue, sounds more like you do not have the proper codec(encodes/decodes video)installed. Download http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. This is a free video player. This player has a huge variety of video codecs pre-installed.
The video controller driver is needed only for the image in general ..and only if you have a on board card ..In this case I think you need some codecs to install ..and player to run them ..cause if the videos are downloaded from the internet ..they may not be dvd format and therefore will need support for the formats they are made into ..(avi ..mpeg 4 ..etc )
For that ..I recommend to take a look in the device manager ..and only download and install the video driver if the driver appears in yellow in the device manager ..If not ..it means it is either already installed ..or it installed itself from windows..(most on board cards have drivers in windows..specially the ge force ..and other from nvidia ..)
If you want to run the videos for sure..I will advice you to install this codec..first ..and this players I link
They ar efree and easy to install ..Just run the execution and follow instructions ..

this is the codex..

this is a player ..that will run all videos from the internet ..At the end of the installation process ..will download and ask for to install a series of 4 codex...Accept them ..and install them and will work ..
