I am getting a vertical black bar on my Daewoo Plasma screen which comes and goes.
We have a 46" LG plasma, with vertical lines in a variety of colors: red, blue, orange, green, you name it. We have 3 lines on the right and 1 on the left. Please help!
(Note: it's actually TH-42PX6U, not 60U.) About 20 months after connecting my Panasonic 42" plasma, I got a persistent vertical black bar with a narrow (1-2 pixel) strip of rainbow color in the middle of that; this bar is just right of center. Panasonic said "sorry, out of warranty, try this local repair shop"; they did all the diagnostics, replaced the one board that it might be (no fix) and concluded it's the ($2000 to replace) plasma panel. (Major kudos to DTR Technologies in Denver, the local repair shop, for only charging me the base $90 service call fee since they failed to correct the problem.) My TV probably has less than 200 and definitely less than 300 hours total; we just don't watch that much TV. I'm quite disappointed - and will appreciate any advice - esp. if anyone has been successful in getting Panasonic to pay attention and address this obvious manufacturing defect.
I'm having what sounds like the exact same problem. I've talked with a local tv tech and after sharing images of the problem he came to the conclusion that it's my panel. In other words it's time to trash my television. I have a Samsung 42" plasma and it's only 2 1/2 years old. The repairs would cost me about $1200.

You could have a Driver Board that has a loose connection or a Ribbon Cable that has a intermittent connection to the Plasma Panel, or a defective Plasma Panel. Either one could cause the problem and I would recommend only a Qualified Service Person to check it out.

Bad connection somewhere along the bottom or top of the panel, there are boards most likely along the bottom of the screen that control vertical drawing, a connection that breaks as it is heated up sounds about right. check the connectors along the bottom. Be very careful because if you wreck em the screen is junk. The connector that will be at fault will be in direct line with the black bar.
YES YOU HAVE DRY JOINTS UNPLUG FROM POWER SUPPLY REMOVE THE BACK/ INSIDE YOU SHOULD SEE AT THE BOTTOM SEVERAL RIBENED CONECTORS FROM THE SCREEN ITSELF? UNDERNEATH YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE 2 OR 4 COMPONENTS CAREFULLY APPLY A HOT SOLDERING IRON AN SOLDER THE ONE THAT YOU ARE HAVEING PROBLEMS YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE FULL PICKTURE AGAINE ANY PROBS email me [email protected]
The main problem of this model is VPB (video process board) and the reason is they build in it SMD capacitors and they are always crap.First thing that you guys should do is to replace them all but not with SMDs,get a normal capacitors same values.And of course replace all capacitos on PSU.Parts are cheap to buy about 30euros,work on the PSU is easy,only the VPB is tricky but it can be done.It only takes time but belive me don't even think of board replacament its cheeper to by a new set
