Porter Cable Cable No. FC350A Clipped Head Framer Questions & Answers
Fn250c striker does not retract
There is a check seal installed around a series of holes drilled into the lower part of the cylinder. The check seal could be a band or oring. It sometimes falls out of place. If broken just use any rubber such as tire tube that will fit snuggly in place. If check seal is in place then make sure that the driver piston does not bind or the piston ring fits too tight or too loose. Driver should move down cylinder with little finger pressure but should not however just drop down the cylinder. Finally, check the lower bumper for cracks and that the metal washer below the bumper fits the driver blade snuggly. If the washer is missing, make a washer out of tire tube and cut a small slot for driver to pass thru. Good luck
Nailer troubleshooting guides
Collar #910767 is most likely the problem for this nailer. However, if this seal looks ok then remove the headvalve and lube with white grease or silicone paste and re-test. The headvalve tends to stick in place. Good luck
Can you use regular round
Your gun uses 30 -34 degree
clip head paper tape. Order a sample of the nail below. It may work on your gun. These are offset full round head with paper tape. Safe way to test if nails will work is to remove the head of the gun and insert nails into rails. Push down on the driver with wood handle of hammer to eject nail. This will test for jamming or two nails trying to eject and cause jam. Look down barrel to see if the head is alighed correctly or too far from centerline of driver.

I have a Porter Cable framing gun with a constant
Air leaking from top of the gun is caused by headvalve orings or trigger valve. Easy fix, remove the head and pop out the headvalve. Remove the orings from headvalve and clean grooves /orings. Reinstall orings and apply plenty of silicone paste lube. If guns holds pressure after cleaning and new silicone paste, order oring kit and have handy when problems start again. If the gun keeps leaking, remove the trigger valve and replace with new or change orings within valve. Good luck
I have an fc350a nail
May need a new firing valve or safety foot is sticking. Easy to check, Remove air supply, nails and remove the trigger to expose the firing pin. Connect air and place the nose of the gun against thick rubber or coiled air hose. Depress trigger and let go. Gun should fire and trigger pin will return to original position. If piston still does not retract then problem is with trigger valve and most likely the rest of the orings within the gun will need replacing. Not expensive. Remove the air supply and look closely at the firing pin, if it moves quite a bit from side to side and looks worn time to replace. If it look to be in good condition, then orings within trigger valve may be swollen and will not allow the trigger to function. You can remove the valve by removing the 3mm roll pins above the valve and applying air pressure to pop out the valve. Use heavy glove to catch the valve because it could come out with force (reduce air pressure to gun if possible). If gun works ok examine safety foot mech for problem. Use silicone paste lube on orings. good luck
Air escaping around trigger. What do i need to
There is an O ring seal at the trigger. You can take your old one to a larger hardware store and match it up. I do this at Ace hardwares, as they have bins of different sizes, and getting a replacement is easy. You might also try Lowe's, Home Depot, or similar.

I amnot sure the assembly of the piston stop
With all parts out of the head, install thin metal washer onto piston stop and place stop into head. The metal ring prevents the head from cutting the lip of the stop. Next intall the spring onto the stop followed by the headvalve piston. It may be difficult to press the headvalve down into place. Lube all parts with silicone lube. Good luck
FC350 nailer problems
Assuming that there are no air leaks you could try a simple trick to solve your problem with not feeding nail. As you suspect, the driver is not returning to top position thus not allowing nail to move into position. All that you need is some teflon tape and some silicone paste both available at Lowes in the plumbing department. Remove the head of the gun being carefull not to tear gasket and pull out the driver and cylinder. There is a check valve that looks like black rubberband on outer part of cylinder covering small holes . Make sure band is in place and fits snuggly. This band is what caused piston to return. Check that the bumper at the bottom of the cylinder is whole and not cracked. Replace as needed. Clean orings to cylinder spacer, lube and reinstall. Remove the oring on the driver and wind teflon tape into oring grove and replace the oring. Apply only enough tape to make the driver fit snugly in the cylinder. Lube cylinder and oring with silicone paste. Reassemble driver and head. This should get pressure to driver up to normal. If it works your done. Later you could order an oring kit to reseal your gun (cost about $12) Good luck
Can i use full round head 3-1/2 passlode nail in this nailer
The FC350A uses a 30- to 34-degree collated clipped head nail which is very similar to the Paslode 34-degree round head nail. Paslode's nails are unique because the round head nails collated very close together and the head of the nail is offset to the shaft unlike Porter Cable full round head are further apart and the head is centered on the nail. What does all this mean? The Paslode round head nail may work however the driver will deliver the blow off center to the shaft of the nail, This could cause the nail to bend as it enters hard wood and possibly jamb the gun. You should be able to exchange the nails (with small restock fee) at a major fastener store (not Lowes or etc. ) with out having purchased them at location because the Paslode nails are very popular and with todays economy the store will gain a new customer. If however you would like to try using the nails, try the following. Remove the head of the gun to expose the driver. Install the nails as usual and with **** of small hammer quickly and firmly push driver all the way down the cylinder to see if nail is easily pushed out of bottom of nose. (You can push driver back up with long thin screwdriver or allen) If successful, replace head and connect to air however lower pressure to 40-50 psi and nail into soft wood increassing the pressure little at a time with each test untill full pressure around 90-100psi. Good luck
Rebuilding FC350 and unable to remove old trigger ...
listen carefully, remove the roll pins that hold the trigger and also the trigger assembly, get a glove or shop rag and place in the area of the valve, hold back on the air chuck so it won't lock and push it on the air fitting the valve will POP out.
I have a PC nailer (Finish) It is misfiring? was
Check the magazine area near the head for a jammed nail or other feed obstruction. It sounds like the driver is hitting the wood ok. Did you change nails (brand, type, or size) when this occurred? Make sure the magazine feed spring is ok.
