You can lastly try a hard reset of the printer but if that is to no avail the printer has an issue with it. See if you can get it to work with another computer for the heck of it just to make sure.

The WIA driver is included in Windows but you should first make sure the Lexmark driver is correctly installed .
You also can go to Start / devices and printers and check the printer there .

Don't know if you have tried this, but it might help. Create a scan to PC profile 1 Type the IP address of the MFP in the address line of your browser, and then press Enter. If the Java applet screen appears, click Yes. 2 Click Scan Profile. 3 Click Create Scan Profile. 4 Select your scan settings, and then click Next. 5 Select a location for saving the scanned output file somewhere on your computer. 6 Enter a profile name. The profile name is the name that will appear on the Scan Profile list on the MFP control panel. 7 Click Submit. 8 Review the instructions on the Scan to PC screen. A shortcut number was automatically assigned when you clicked Submit. You can use this shortcut number when you are ready to scan your documents. a Go to the MFP, and place your original document in the ADF face up, long edge first. b Press # followed by the shortcut number on the keypad, or touch Profiles on the home screen. c After you enter the shortcut number, the scanner will scan and send the document to the directory or application you specified. If you touch Profiles on the home screen, locate your shortcut on the list. 9 Return to your computer to view your file. Have you tried removing the it, then installing it again. How have you got it connected? Have you tried connecting via USB?

Try to re-seat the cartridges in the printer. Open the printer cover > remove the cartridges > close the printer cover > re-brick you printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in, and re-plug after 10 seconds. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

If that doesn't help, the problem could be due to a clogged print cartridge nozzle. Please follow the steps below to fix print quality issues with your model:

1. On your computer, go to Start menu.
2. Go to Programs.
3. Go to Lexmark 3600 Series folder.
4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.

From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through to clean the print cartridge nozzles.

un snap the cartrige make sure its not leaking wipe it where the ink comes out of it with a klenex with alcohol on it and install it back in and if that dont work unpluf it for ten minutes plug it back in and see if that works if not replace the cartrige

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC.
