How do I lock the
Push the Lock button on outside touch pad to extend latch bolt 1" which locks the door when you leave.
Enter your desired personal code to retract the latch bolt completely which unlocks the door when you return home.
The T-turn on the inside of the door is used to extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt when you are inside.
Using the key from the outside will also extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt.
This Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt should be accompanied by a Kwikset Knobset, Leverset, or Handleset.

If you are not able to lock the door using the outside touch pad's lock button, you may need to reprogram the door's "handedness", which gives the lockset the ability to be used on doors that have their hinges on either the right or left side of the door (right-hand or left-hand door).
The instructions for that are found on Step 4.9. This is also an excellent time to change the batteries, which is recommended yearly.

Keypad won't work
You should take the cover off and make sure the wires are properly connected. I had the same problem and that is what was causing it.
My Kwikset Electronic Deadbolt is
My lock did not have jumpers, but adjusts itself automatically... You have to hold the lock button in (on the exterior side) while you insert the battery pack - the deadbolt will cycle in and out, then beep a couple times. You'll be holding button for maybe 10 seconds. I have to say while this step is included in the instructions in a big red box, it says nothing about why or what its doing, so I imagine many people miss this...
Do you know how to reprogram digital code??
1) Remove back cover (instructions usually are stuck on the inside of the back plate cover .. if not continue next ...
2) Make sure all batteries are fully secured.
3) Press the square Reprogram button
4) Press the keypads of your code. If you do not hear any sound when pressing the buttons, then it means your batteries are not fully secured.
5) After entering your code, press the middle keypad (lock) once.
6) To double check things are working right, then press the keypad buttons again and then when you see the deadbolt is unlocked, then press the middle keypad (lock) again to ensure the deadbolt comes out to lock.
Recommend periodic lubrication of the deadbolt lock for less strain on the batteries ,,, and lubricate the key lock occasionally as well.

Replaced the batteries but it
Kwikset's warranty covers one year electronics defects and lifetime coverage for the mechanical movement and finish.

Under normal circumstances there is no need to reprogram the lock codes when batteries are changed.I did see that if the bolt does not extend when the lock button is pressed that you need to reprogram the handedness of the door (see Step 4.9).On page 9 of the installation instructions is Troubleshooting tips and a contact number for Kwikset USA :1-800-327-5625.
