i can find parts for sale on one of these
When bin was full, I emptied it only to find that my shredded no longer worked on auto, forward or reverse
Dear Sir,
Maybe, just maybe, I have an answer for you.
Somewhere on the part of your shredder that touches the bin, there is a tiny switch that touches the bin, and it is a safety switch that causes the shredder to stop working if the bin is removed.
In the shredder I have, and have had, the switch is usually plastic, and is the same color as the plastic body of the shredder.
Proper positioning of the bin to the "bottom" of the shredder is critical to it's working, as the bin presses on the switch to "close" it.
God bless your efforts.
How do I unjam it?

fix a jammed shredder? Remove as much of the jam as possible then saturate anypaper left with shredder oil or you may use any liquid vegetable based
Only goes in reverse
Lube might not be necessary. Unplug the shredder from the outlet. Lift it off the shredded paper bin and turn it over. It is very possible that you have a jam. If this is the case, remove as much paper as you can making sure that you don't use anything that could do damage to the cutter'shredder blades. Once you have removed as much paper as possible, place the shredder back on the bin making sure that it is aligned properly. One way of making sure is to check for any space between the shredder and bin. If you do have space make sure that you replaced the shredder correctly on the bin; you may have to turn it around 180 degrees. When you get the shredder properly aligned, use the switch (DO NOT USE PAPER AT THIS TIME) to switch the shredder from Forward (shredding) to Reverse. You may have to do this a couple of times so be patient. At this point the shredder should be working in both directions. If so, move the switch to Auto or the center position and try a SINGLE sheet of paper. If it shreds that piece of paper, then you have fixed it. Be sure not to insert more paper than the shredder is rated for. Also, unless it specifically states that it can handle staples, credit cards, etc. do NOT let any of these items run through your shredder.
If none of the above works, buy a new one - :)

Two are accessed through the rubber foot pads. Six are accessedfrom the basket compartment. You will need a VERY LONG AND SKINNY Phillipsscrewdriver with a foot-long blade and a very narrow diameter to fit down theaccess holes. I cut my case in two to get at the six screws through the basketcompartment (very messy). It would probably be easier to drill holes throughthe bottom of the case for screw access. You could then use tape to cover the holes.
Our shredder quit running while in use. Staples said itwould probably need a new circuit board. Once I got inside I found a 5 amp fusesoldered to the circuit board. Yes, it was blown. I jumped it and the machineworked. I unsoldered the fuse and soldered in two wires that I ran through ahole I drilled in the top of the machine. I took a 5 amp automotive fuse(bayonet style) and drilled a small hole through each bayonet. I then threadedthe two wires through the two holes on the fuse and wrapped them around, instead of soldering, for easy future replacement. Then I wrapped the fuse withelectric tape for safety and taped the fuse flat to the top of the machine.Voila! A flawed Chinese product is made usable! Dan Phelps

How frequently should shredder be
The lubrication is applied directly to the cutting blades in a back & forth motion right to left. Oil it, then turn it on to work in the lubrication & repeat to make sure everything is covered.
How often you lubricate depends on how often you use the shredder & the type of items you put into it. I would suggest lubricating bi-weekly for moderate use with regular paper. Increase if you are using card stock, plastic cards or large quantities in a single session.
I need a replacement container
a quick fix. on the bottom of the unit there is a safety switch that engages when the unit is placed on the container. it is located in a little channel on the front end opposite the power cord end. tape a paper clip or comething else into the channel so that the switch engages. do this of course with the unit unplugged. that should make the unit turn on without the original container. use an ordinary wastebasket to catch the shreddings.
good luck and be safe.

The
power surge from jammming has burnt the contacts together on the
switch....now the switch will not open to turn off...you will not be
able to find a replacement switch, parts are not available for most

The cutting mechanism is failing. Result-parallel perferations
This happened to mine after attempting to shred checkbooks. The checkbook spine warped the cutter shaft far enough to allow the cutters to jump over to the opposite position. (Imagine scissors wit the blades back-to-back.)
I fixed mine. All I did was disassemble it and reassemble it. But be forewarned. I consider this an advanced level assembly. Many of the parts are small. Everything takes 3 hands. And the cutter shafts were difficult to get to go into the correct orientation (probably because of burrs on the serrated cutting edges).
Lay everything out on a large enough workbench. Keep track of which pieces go where. And be careful. Good luck!
