The topo maps are low in the map hierarchy. If another mapset is loaded at the same time and is also checked it will likely "cover" topo. I think the Recreation maps are the only one's lower in the hierarchy.

I'd pull the microSD and see if it boots.

If so, reseat the microSD and see if it boots. If so, good. If not, try reformatting and loading the data back on.

It is probably giving co-ordinates in a different format. Go to setup and change the co-ordinates format to hddd.dddd and see if this solves your problem.

Garmin gwind race transducer. Can it be ohmed out ?

All transducers should read 0 ohms or close to it. If not you most likely have a broken pin in the connector or wire.

Hi, i have a garmin 820xsgpsmap in my boat and i recently put a blackbox in with a downvu, sidevu tranducer on transom and when useing the unit it dosnt have the option of useing sidvu. Why is this?

I can't remember correct setup but make sure that box is powered and connected to GPS in right input. With no power to box it won't be discovered by head unit.

Garmin 551s sonar stopped working, no bottom definition or ability to see fish GPS charts and speed all work It shows 3 step image repeats top of the screen / water surface has the transducer packed

Check you transducer cable route and connections. Look for kinks, punctures, & tears in cable. Visually check the transducer for damage. #2 check the units operation on a friends boat with the same set or research a local marine repair shop to check ops. Best of luck on the problem.

Hi Tom! I believe I'd start troubleshooting with the power supply. Disconnect and clean the cable ends with Fluid Film (I swear by this stuff) Check the crimps and make sure they're not loose. Pay special attention to the ground connection. With your temp not reading correctly in addition to your depth rolling, this usually indicates a common fault. (Usually ground.) Check the data cable and socket on the control head for corrosion (again, Fluid Film is your friend) If that doesn't fix your problem, then a "hard boot" or reset of your system might solve the problem(s). Hope this helps you out. Good Luck! -Steve

I am thinking about buying a garmin 451 chartplotter, can I connect this to my garmin 160c fishfinder for sonar capability?

Hi James! According to the owner's manual, the 451 can be used as a fishfinder when connected to a transducer. I would contact Garmin directly to see if the ducer from your 160c is compatible with a 451. If it is, you're in business! You'll likely have to cut/splice cable, but it'd be far easier than replacing the thru-hulls. (The 451 does come with transducers.) It has been my experience that Garmin is REAL good when it comes to answering questions from consumers. Good luck! http://www.garmin.com/us/support/
