Samsung le26a6 will not switch on
These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Picture thatching?
Hate to give you some bad news...But, It sounds like you have a bad screen. Samsung had several issues with the screens on this model. You may get lucky and may have a bad T-con board. The small board at the top center of the TV. If you want to give it a try? Buy a used one,so you don't loose that much money. If is the screen? Some people have had luck complaining to Samsung about it. They may provide a replacement screen, but you still have to pay a shop to install it. The T-Con board part number is...
Samsung LJ94-02601F or this one depending on what screen is in yours.

My Samsung PN58C8000 plasma tv has red banding on white backgrounds. I see this a problem with this tv. How do I repair this and how much will it cost? The tv is out of warranty.
I have the exact same TV with the exact same problem. The issue is called diffusion and is not repairable. A Samsung repair tech can adjust the voltage settings but this will only work for a few weeks and cost a little more than $100. If you call Samsung they may be willing to issue you a new panel gratis (they did for me) but you will have to pay labor for the swap (about $400). If you do this the new panel will start to act up just like the old one so I would advise against it. Samsung will also claim that this is not a common problem which isn't true - especially for the 58" models which are seeing many extended warranty claims (which I didn't purchase).Best advice is to deal with it until you can't take it anymore and then buy a new TV but avoid Samsung in general and especially their plasmas. That is the route I am taking. And bashing Samsung for bilking me out of $400 6 months ago to replace a defective product with an equally defective one and then saying so sorry but you're now on your own.
