Magnavox MWD2206 DVD/VCR Combination Player Questions & Answers
No output from phono Magnavox AM/fm/phono.
Hi,
this does not sound normal. Please use another source of sound for your Magnavox device before attempting to play sound again. If this issue persists, please check that the volume is properly adjust to play to new source of sound.
Otherwise, you can setup a repair appointment with B&H photovideo to get the work done on the Magnavox that it needs . Their phone number is (212) 615-8820.
Thank you.
I have a Magnavox MCR230SL/17 clock radio. The band selector switch is not working right.
Those units are mass produced and are not serviceable from a parts standpoint. You dont say what the issue is but rest assured that it has a useful life cycle and it has most likely gone beyond that point. The issue could be related to wear or oxidation on the contacts or it could be physically broken. In order to understand what exactly is wrong you would have to disassemble it and look at the switch.
Have 1960's magnavox stereo console record player w/ reel to reel. now turntable won't turn and I cannot locate a diamond needle. Can you help find a service technician for this in dayton oh area
The problem with your 1960s "music centre" turntable is likely to be mechanical - rubber tyres, drive belts, etc. These are less spare parts for your Magnavox unit and more spare parts for the turntable which is likely to have been bought in by Magnavox. Similarly the stylus will be a spare part for the brand and type of cartridge fitted to the tone arm.
Finding a suitable grey-bearded service technician who can remember how to service and repair classic music equipment and is willing to tackle the work and keep the total cost in proportion to the value of the unit will be very difficult or nearly impossible.
If you really can't or don't want to tackle the work yourself I speculate finding a restorer of jukeboxes or a hi-fi enthusiast with a long experience is likely to be more useful...
Where the antenna of Magnavox Solid State Radio is located? I would like to install one on my radio that I just got.
I don't know but will take a guess - I expect the radio is a vintage am/fm transistor radio. The am antenna is likely to be a ferrite rod tuned directional type that will be inside the cabinet.
The fm antenna might be a single core wire that dangles from the set in the way commonly used by many fm radio-alarm clock-radios. This performs the same function as the single telescopic antenna of portable radios without the cost and similarly is connected internally to the first rf stage. Sometimes due to age, mishandling or ignorance the dangling wire is lost or cut off.
A higher quality table radio (not designed to be portable) is equipped with a facility to connect a 300 ohm balanced antenna, a 75 ohm fm antenna or both.
The 300 ohm type connects to a pair of screws accessible at the rear without removing any covers and is usually an indoor type. The 75 ohm type plugs in with a standard coax plug and could be either an indoor type or an outdoor type.
A matching transformer is available to use a 75 ohm antenna with a 300 ohm input. The 300 ohm type is highly directional in horizontally polarised signal areas and is not always convenient to use.
