Maker clicks on, but doesn't perk or heat the plate.

Unlike older coffee makers, the new Mr. Coffee designs seem to have reliability issues in regard to their circuit boards/controllers. You are right in your thoughts. If the unit is under warranty, I would suggest returning it for a replacement. E-mail your concerns directly to the company.

BTW--there are no user serviceable items within your coffee maker.

I have a rather new

Check and make sure that it did not blow a circuit breaker to the outel, will you have it plugged into. And if you are not getting anything at all, then the power supply is bad or the fuse blew inside the coffee maker.

I have a black plastic

Probably the actuator that clips on the bottom of the basket and shuts off the flow of coffee when the decanter is removed from under the basket. Actuator is first picture below, and basket assembly is second picture showing the the actuator clipped into the bottom of the basket. Your parts may look slightly different, but they function the same. OK?

How do I take apart,

The only parts that should be removed to clean are the pot and the basket. The remaining parts you just clean with a cloth and hot soapy water (squeezed out) then you clean the inside with 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water. Run a cycle through the pot then run again with just plain water. This do once every 3-4 mos. depending on how often you use your coffee pot. You can actually put them on the top of a dishwasher rack also. You may risk electrical shock if you take it apart.

I would like to modify the clock to install in my

Did you mean to fix the clock from the coffee unit ? if so you need not have to use an invertor to convert to mains the 12 V dc but you can straight away use the 12V dc to be connected to the clock/processor IC with a 12V and 5 Volt regulator as required ( use LM 7812 and LM7805 as required in circuit.)

Leaks while filling

Mine just leaked and it turned out to be one of the rubber tubes from the reservoir to the heating element under the pot came off. I removed the 4+2 screws of the base plate, reinstalled the tube & since there are no clamps holding on the tubing, I used thin stainless wire double wrapped and snugged to ensure the tubing stays on this time. Note, there is wiring in the area. Make sure you do not short out any of the electronics with the wire if you chose to use it.

Coffeemaker does not power up.

If nothing at all comes on not even the display, then verify internally with a voltmeter if your power cord is good. Check if there is a fuse.

Brews coffee at twice the time

Time to run a mixture of white vinegar and cold water (about 1 to 6 ratio) through. Use a clean filter for this. When done, turn off power and let cool down, then return the mixture to the water chamber and run it again. Do this one more time, then pour out the wash and let the unit cool down. Pour in fresh cold water and run through. Do it again--you should by now be getting the rapid brewing (no coffee yet) that you had before. After the second rinse, make the coffee with a fresh filter. Note all the scale in the previous filter that has come through in the cleaning process.
