Whirlpool electric range burner power light stays on but no heat

Hello givemeanidth.
Welcome to Fixya

You said, have a Whirlpool electric range (model rf363pxpt0) with standalone burners - the burner power indicator light stays lit whether the heat control knob is on or off, there is no heat coming from the burner on or off. You pulled the burner from the receptacle and one of the tabs broke off and stayed in the receptacle. You removed the tab and made sure no pieces remained in the receptacle then bought a replacement burner, no change. You put the replacement burner in the back burner of the same size and had heat within 10 seconds. You changed out the burner with the one that had been in the back of the range, no heat. As long as the breaker to the range is on the power light stays lit but no power to that one burner only.

What is the model number and the age of your range?

Waiting for your reply.

We put a new oven in the house there is 250 volts at the plug but the touchpad for the oven controls & clock does not work the plug is a three wire connection the ground circut screw did not hav

You seem to have a loose connection. This is the first issue I would tackle. Make sure you have proper 240 vac from the supply at the terminal block. Then you need to check l-1 and l-2 against white neutral for 120 vac. The clock needs 120 vac to properly light up. Then check the p1-1 power supply connection for 120 vac. between p1-4 connection neutral . If all this is solid, then double check the p-2 connector (p.c.b.). All pins need to be matched correctly and the pin connections at the jumper harness need to be checked to see if they (one- by- one) have not backed out slightly and making a partial connection. You can use a pick tool to remove the inner tang and remove the wire connector itself individually. Then pry up on the terminal tang and insert it fully back into the connector so it will make a solid pin connection. You will be able to tell if one is bent needing correction. At p-2 on the pcb board, pin # 5 is a brown wire with a non resettable fuse internally with the wire itself. Make sure there is continuity between these 2 -points as the fuse needs to be closed. This jumper goes to the clock p-7 pin connections.

How do i put door

Hi, don't know for sure how you took it off, but if it came off with a bang noise, you need to do the following. Lay door face down. Get a vicegrip as you are going to have to respring bracket. You will notice a hole in the bracket when you've pulled it far enough. You'll have to stick a small metal peg in the hole to hold it. Do the same with the other side. Then reinsert back into range as far in as it will go. Then lay door open all the way, and remove pins. Hope this helps.

Burners indicators say they are on but no heat

The F3 E2 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board in the range senses an over-temperature condition in the oven.

This can be caused by a failed temperature sensor probe, a wiring problem between the sensor and the control board, or a failed electronic oven control board.
If the oven is apparently not overheating when this error code appears, then your likely failure is the temperature sensor probe.
If the oven is overheating, then you likely have a failed electronic oven control board due to a stuck relay not cycling the oven heating element off properly.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

When doing self clean I

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

What do codes e2 and f1 mean?

Here is what the manufacture says about it, my comments are below.

F1 E2 - UL A/D error(s)

1. Verify failure if not displayed, using CANCEL/OFF key. Press key for 5 seconds until last
error code is displayed.
2. Disconnect power longer than 30 seconds.
3. Re-apply power and observe for longer than 1 minute.
4. If failure remains, disconnect power, replace control.

Phil's comments----->

F1 Codes are related to the control itself, if there was a storm, power outage, surge etc it could have damaged the control. Try resetting the board by unplugging the range or turning off the breaker for a couple minutes. Restart and see if that helps. If not you will need to replace the control.

The part number for this unit is 4453614 and runs just over $300.00

Bottom elment gone how do you replace it.whirlpool gold model

I took off the side panel - 3 Screws - from there you can see the burner - 2 screws - pulled it out sideways.

But you should know that 9 out of 10 times when they blow they take out the computer as well. So before you change the burner check to see if you have power to it. Or call a tech to make sure.

I changed the burner, and found out it had blow the computer as well. 350.00 for a new chip. Bought a new stove. LOL
