Hi,
After the TV has shut down, without pressing reset: press and hold both the Device (Input) and Menu buttons on the front panel until the green light starts flashing. It will flash a two digit code: 3-4, 3-8, 5-7, etc. You may have to let the TV shut down a couple of times (without pressing reset) before it will give the code.
Please post the code to help me determine the section of the TV that has failed and what it will take to repair it. It may be a good idea to repeat the test a few times to make sure the TV is giving the correct code.
Let me know.so that we could proceed.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

What are you talking about? Just replace the lamp, if that does not solve the problem, also replace the thermal sensor. Nothing else. If you've damaged anything, take it to a repair shop. We are Mitsubishi authorized.
I turned off my tv,
You need to replace the lamp and ballast to correct this issue, may sure use an original lamp from mitsubishi , generic lamp last less than a year
How to replace the bulb?
check in the back of the set is a 4" cover with 2 screws the lamp has 2 screws is easy to replace.
Just replaced the lamp on my WD-Y65
Apparently there is a separate "reset" for the lamp..if u google your owners manual & download it (save it to ur computer!) you should be able to find it there..or you can always try doing a search on
www.youtube.com to see if you can find a video to help...I have the same TV..I love it but apparently there is a bunch of common problems with the TV, and having to replace the lamp and or housing is truly a pain & expensive!!! If you google the TV with the model you can find alot of useful info about the issues this TV has!
Sound, but no picture.. :(
Hi,
Could be lamp again since lamp light is on, Mitsubishi's are known to eat lamps. Unplug tv and remove lamp and give it a good looking over. Sometimes the lamp will give you a clue if the glass inside is broken or cloudy the lamp is worn out. But it's not accurate 100% of the time unfortunately. my guess would be the lamp is bad. It would be one of the cheaper fixes for sure.
Losing picture when screen shows a white background
Try switching to a different cable provider. I have had many problems with their a/v boxes in the past and have found they aren't very compatible with most newer tv's. Time Warner/Comcast boxes have worked great for me.
Also, don't listen to the electronics stores, they are just out to make money, although it may fix your problem, it is unnecessary.
Check your tv's manual for settings that may fix that problem, like "source refresh time" or anything to do with signal loss and refresh rates.
For more info, contact me.
Thanks for asking!

Hdmi 2 wont work on mitsubishi wd-y65
It sounds similiar to a problem we've had with ours, all components would work in hdmi 1, but hdmi 2 would only work intermitently. They ended up replacing the digital board (fortunately we have the extended warrenty, I'm sure it's not cheap). Sorry hope this helps.
No picture.
Most likely you need a new projection lamp. The "strange sound" you hear is most likely the lamp trying to fire. After awhile, the set"gives up' and shuts down. There is a small door in the rear, and the lamp is behind this. It pulls out, after removing a couple of slotted screws. The bulb inside of the housing is what goes bad--the housing does NOT need to be replaced, unless you get an "original"(read:: more expensive) mits lamp.
But a "generic' is available to replace the bulb in the housing ,Probably a P22-150, or 180 lamp, about a $300 repair, if you have someone come out--or, if you are mechanically inclined, you could replace the bulb from the old housing(EASY to do), yourself, and save about half of that, or perhaps more.
Air flow on t.v. shuting down what should will do
Mitsubishi had a problem with some of these sets; The lamp cartridge has a fine metal screen like material covering openings on the lamp cartridge---if you remove the lamp and find one of the screens(a narrow little one) is covered with dust take a brush and clean it off so it does not block the airflow----the replacement lamp for these sets uses a larger mesh that does not block up.
I do this here for free so if this has been helpful give me a vote here. if you have questions:
