TV turned off by itself one day. I pressed reset, timer light blinked green for a minute, then I pressed power and it sounded like it wanted to boot up, but nothing happened and the status light turn

Two thoughts:First is this is a DLP set and the lamp may have failedSecond is it should have the self check which reads error codes---most of these sets that is the same:" After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.(then release both) The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence. For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37. Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem: 12 = No error detected, check power supply. 32 = Lamp Cover is open. 33 = Air filter cover is open. 34 = Lamp abnormality 36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped) 37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped 38 = Lamp Temperature High 39 = DMD Temperature High 41 = Short is detected 44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnectedThis is for a earlier Mitsubishi DLP but should be the same as your set as Mitsubishi rarely changes things like this.If you get the lamp abnormal it is likely your problem.

ogrady1428,

I would check the filter on the fan intake first. Remove it and carefully clean it with compressed air.If this does not resolve your problem then I would remove the lamp and inspect the switch in the vicinity of the door for problems. Be very careful reassembling the unit once the door is removed. The interlock swich must be positioned correctly or you will get an error message. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which explains the problem and how to fix it.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating. We answer these questions for free.

Wd-y65 no picture. Sound for a few seconds then shuts off

Lamp is usually customer replaceable and instructions are in owner manual.I would to begin with (set unplugged) get at the lamp to inspect it--if shattered inside look for a replacement.Google the model number with "lamp" to see what is available. You Tube has video instructions for replacing lamps on most brands and models as well---not have to read just look.

How do I view movies in 3D on the Mitsubishi WD-Y65?

WD-Y65 is NOT a 3D ready TV. You either have to change the TV to see the movie in 3D, or just watch it in 2D in you current TV.I have the same TV as yours. Current I connect a desktop PC to the TV via DVI port, and I watch Avatar using colorcode 3D(Amber/Blue) with Stereoscopic Player from www.3dtv.at It might be a way for you to enjoy 3D without change the whole thing, but it's an entire different topic.

Hi,

After the TV has shut down, without pressing reset: press and hold both the Device (Input) and Menu buttons on the front panel until the green light starts flashing. It will flash a two digit code: 3-4, 3-8, 5-7, etc. You may have to let the TV shut down a couple of times (without pressing reset) before it will give the code.

Please post the code to help me determine the section of the TV that has failed and what it will take to repair it. It may be a good idea to repeat the test a few times to make sure the TV is giving the correct code.

Let me know.so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

What are you talking about? Just replace the lamp, if that does not solve the problem, also replace the thermal sensor. Nothing else. If you've damaged anything, take it to a repair shop. We are Mitsubishi authorized.
