Battery won't charge. Light pattern on the charger is " ._._._. Is this battery bad.

What is the residual voltage on your battery, if it is too low, charger will not engage. If the voltage is below the threshold allowed, simply jolt the Nickel Cadmium battery with a car charger to bring it up, then install on charger.

Dw997 stopped working, rotates OK, battery fully charged

The speed switch on top may be in between speeds. Try it in a different speed. If not the top switch, the the trigger may be bad. Does reverse work?

Chuck problem

If it is a keyless chuck, try resting the chuck on a wooden work bench, and with a dead-blow hammer aka: shot hammer, slant-strike the chuck in the unscrew direction.

Chuck won't hold bit when making drilling a hold or trying to reverse a screw, etc.

it sounds like you will need to replace the chuck on the drill. a worn chuck or a cheep brand may be your trouble.buy a good Jacob chuck and this will most likely fix your problem

My dewalt cordless drill stopped working in the middle of drilling a hole. is the trigger faulty/broken?

First before you open the tool ground yourself. The switch is probably static sensitive. Now open the tool and check for wires that may have come loose from the switch, or motor brush area. If no bad wires make sure the switch terminals are ok (not broken or bent and are tight enough to make contact with the batery terminals). Next check the brushes and make sure they move freely in the brush holders. You didn't state the model so it may not have brushes you can access. If all that is good disconnect the motor from the switch and secure the motor in a vise. Take wires with alligator clips and connect the battery directly to the motor for just a second to see if it runs. If the motor runs you have a bad switch assuming your battery is charged.

Serial number

The serial number is on the label on the righthand side of the motor housing. The serial number is pretty unimportant though. When ordering parts the model and type number are the important numbers.

I have a Hitachi WH 18 DFL cordless impact driver, which I love. I was doing a little bit of heavy drilling, and now the drill bit is stuck. The sleeve extends as if to release the bit, but the bit do

My guess is that the bit twisted a little in the bit holder so the steel ball is bound. If the collar moves you could try a slide puller on the bit and see if you can impact it out with the slide puller. Or you could take the bit holder apart. There is a retaining ring that holds it all together right on top. Pull that off and a washer, spring and the collar will come off. Becarefull to watch for the steel balls on the spindle. They WILL fall out! Now hopefully the bit will come out. If not it may need to be twisted in the oposite direction that it got stuck when you were using it to break it free. Hope that helps and good luck!

Dewalt 18v xrp clutch slipping and electrical smoke smell in rear

Yes you can. Depending on the model of the tool it may not be the clutch causing your problem though. On some models the transmission is more likely the problem. Brushes create an ozone smell when the motor runs so that could be the smell. Does it run slow or get hot?

My dc213 18 volt sds drills is running slow am i

Not totally. It could be the switch but I'd look at the motor first. Disconnect the motor and running with battery voltage. If it still runs slow it's the motor. Becareful with the switch it looks like a static sensitive switch and needs to be worked on at a static free work station. The motor part # is 492829-00 Cost $92.72 The switch is 368832-09 $ 48.91 . Those are suggested list prices may vary! Good luck!
